Christmas Decorating with Pinecones

When many people think of Christmas, they think of beautiful pine trees. It makes sense that they would also think of the humble pinecone. Pinecones come in many different shapes and can be terrific to decorate with. You can do so many things with pinecones for Christmas.

On the Fireplace. A perfect place to decorate with pinecones is on the fireplace. If you start by placing some garlands of pine on the mantel and then some candles, the fireplace will have a very classic look. Then add some pinecones. Depending on the size of your fireplace, and the size of the pinecones, you will probably want to use between six to twelve pinecones. Nest them gently in the pine to show them off. If you want to give them a really decorated look, spray them first just a touch with fake snow (found at the craft store) or brush glue on them and then sprinkle a little silver or gold glitter on them.

As a Centerpiece. Pinecones can be great for your Christmas dinner table. Fill a large bowl with classic round ornaments and pinecones. This is a very easy centerpiece to do that has a unique look to it. You can use many different colors of ornaments or just stick with one color (like red or green) or do red and green ornaments. Each combination will give you a different look. You could also spray the pinecones with fake snow and simply have a bowl filled with pinecones. Another idea is to place a small tabletop Christmas tree on the table and to surround it with tiny pinecones.

As a Wreath. You can add pinecones to your Christmas tree wreath and they will give it a special look. Attach them with wire or thread. You can also make a wreath entirely out of pinecones. You need to press them into shape and create the entire wreath out of pinecones. Pinecone wreaths are very popular in some areas of the country, naturally where pinecones are found in plentiful variations.

As a Tabletop Decoration. Decorating with pinecones can give your living room or front hall a festive look. Pinecones are also quite inexpensive as all you really have to do is to find the pinecones and then locate them in the place you would like to put them. Pinecones and candles can look very pretty on a tabletop. Even putting a small mirror below the pinecones and candles can look nice as it will reflect the glow from the candles.

As a Garland. This looks pretty from the staircase, a pinecone garland. You can get a pine garland and then add pinecones or you can use ribbon and then add pinecones to the ribbon. Add pinecones to the ribbon using wire to attach the pinecones.
