Do you have an outdoor Christmas tree that you would like to decorate? Decorating your yard for Christmas really adds some Christmas cheer to the neighborhood. The thing is, decorating outdoors is not the same as trimming the tree indoors. These outdoor Christmas tree ideas will help add some sparkle to your decorating.

1. The Bigger the Better

Outdoor Christmas tree decorations should really be bigger than indoor ones. This is because the small ones really aren't seen all that well, especially for people who are passing by in the car.

2. Let There Be Light!

The lights really should be the focus of your outdoor Christmas tree. You can find colored lights and white lights. Choose the one you like best or use a combination. If you decide to put nothing else on your outdoor tree, this is the one thing you should put.

3. Choose a Theme

Sure, you can put whichever decorations you want. However, choosing a theme and sticking to it can really liven things up.

4. Use a Fake Tree

Do you want to decorate an outdoor Christmas tree but don't have a suitable tree outside? If so, you can purchase a fake tree to take the place of a real one.

5. Watch the Power

I've seen outdoor lights displays so elaborate the power company needed to help them set up a whole power grid for it. Be sure you know the limits of your power before you set up your decorations.

6. Have a Party

Do you think that decorating the outdoor Christmas tree is only for your family? Everyone can have fun! Have a party with friends, relatives and neighbors so they can help you decorate.

7. Choose Outdoor Ornaments

You know those handmade ornaments that dot your indoor tree? These will most likely get ruined outside. Instead, purchase (or make) ornaments that are specifically created for the outdoors.

8. Use a Timer

Put the lights outside on a special timer. This will help you save money because the lights will shut off even if you forget to do it.

9. Use Music

Another fun way to decorate the tree outside is to incorporate music with the tree. This really adds a festive feel!

10. Pre-lighted Ornaments

Finding pre-lighted ornaments and even a tree that already has lights can really help make the decorating a lot easier. Just make sure it is suitable for the outdoors.

If you want to have a decorated tree outdoors, these Christmas decorating tips will really helps get you in the holiday mood!
