Christmas Decoration Tips for Your Fireplace

The Christmas tree isn't the only thing that you can adorn during the festive season. If you are lucky enough to own a fireplace, make sure not to exclude it during your annual decorating spree. Here are some handy tips to decorate your fireplace and mantelpiece with garland.

1. Garland comes in all shapes, colors and sizes so it is up to you if you want to stick to one type or mix it up a bit. A great theme could be a pine cone garland draped around the fireplace. On top of the mantel you can place a bigger and longer variety of pine cone in small flowerpots to create the impression of little trees. To break the brown make the flowerpots green.

2. Angels are always a beautiful sight. Hang tiny ornamental white angels from red tinsel garland as this is draped along the fireplace. Place slightly bigger ornamental angels on the mantel amidst scattered cranberries and rose petals for a nice white and red effect. A single white candle in the middle wrapped in red tinsel garland would also look stunning.

3. Not in the mood to really decorate? Just place different sized candles that are encircled by regular artificial Christmas garland (red and green respectively) on top of the mantel. Glue a single string of the same garland to the frame of the fireplace and that's it.

4. Make your own garland by stringing together tiny gift wrap boxes to hang from the fireplace. Place a Santa figurine on the mantel surrounded by small gifts. Secure a big ribbon to the top of the fireplace.

5. Keep it flowery. Make or buy garlands made from flowers and string them up around the fireplace. Decorate the mantel with anything flowery and scatter rose petals everywhere.

6. Make a candy cane garland of different lengths and sizes. Tie a ribbon around each candy cane and decorate the mantel with all sorts of red, green and white candy.

7. Loop Christmas lights through any garland and light up your fireplace even without fire this Christmas.

8. Poinsettias are always a winner during Christmas because of its brilliant red color. Cover your mantel completely in poinsettias and add them to any type of green or white garland.

9. Create a snow theme around your fireplace. Cover the mantel with snow globes and adorn the fireplace with snow garland. Add Christmas lights to add magic at night.

10. Be different and string together dried fruit and hang it up around your fireplace. Decorate the mantel with dry and regular fruit in woven baskets. Attach a pine wreath above the fireplace looped with berry garland.

Whatever you do, have fun with it! Merry Christmas.
