Christmas Dreams

Christmas time was once a chore,
That brought obligations that seemed empty to the core.
Lights were great and the story fab,
Although I must admit it was always a "free-for-all grab."

I met you then everything changed.
We wandered the isles laughing at all of the people that seemed so deranged.
The rushing and spending of the money they didn't have,
The way that it seemed so empty, so lonely and sad.

We shopped and bought things for our kitties and dog.
They loved all the catnip and played together before that log.
The log in the fire and the sun setting with you and I my dear.
We hung lights on the windows and cheered in the new year.

What I remember most from those lovely Christmas Dreams,
Was the way that it felt to be in the gleam,
Of the moment that you gave me the best present yet.
The little guest that warmed our home and came from the vet.

Now Dr. Mike is now gone and the times have moved on you see.
But today I remember those lovely Christmas Dreams as I smile at little Liberi'
