Christmas Events in Nashville: What to See & Do in Nashville for the Christmas Holidays
What to See & Do in Nashville for the Christmas Holidays
The Christmas holidays are here, and Nashville has been decking the halls and trimming the trees since Thanksgiving. Like many native Nashvillians, I remember "the good ole days" when a Nashville Christmas meant going downtown to see the displays at Harveys, Castner Knott's and Cain Sloan followed by a trip to Centennial Park to see the lighted plastic manger scene at the Parthenon. As one by one the downtown stores closed and the Parthenon manger scene was carted off, Nashvillians learned to celebrate new traditions.
New Nashville Christmas Traditions
As mentioned in A Tender Nashville Tennessee Christmas, there are many wonderful Christmas activities in Nashville each year from seeing the lights strung down Broadway and 2nd Avenue, to visiting Gaylord Opryland Hotel for their annual Christmas extravaganzas. Nashville churches also play host to many holiday musicals and pageants, local mansions decorate for the holidays, and some local restaurants have special holiday menus. Whether your tastes run to holiday food, or Christmas lights and music, or perhaps a retelling of the Christmas story, you will find something to enjoy in Nashville for Christmas.
