Christmas is Fast Approaching...gift Givers Everywhere Are Starting to Panic!

Susan Pettrone
Christmas will soon be upon us and it seems that gift givers usually fall into two categories when it comes to gift giving for that special man in your life. Either you are one of those gift givers who always knows the PERFECT gift and in fact has had the gift bought, paid for and wrapped weeks in advance of Christmas, or you are like much of the populace not having "clue one" as to what to purchase.

Well, crunch time is here and most of us have got to get it together and get that gift that will not only please the recipient but will cause all other gift givers around you to turn green with envy at your creativity, ingenuity and imagination!

I admit, in the past, I have not been the most creative of gift givers and I cringe when I confess that in years past, I gave a "tie" to my dad...I actually gave a tie to a man that lives in flannel shirts, jeans and comfy shoes on most every day of this life, only dragging out the tie for weddings and funerals! What was I thinking?!?

But to redeem myself somewhat, I also have been known to indulge one of his favorite taste sensations and make him "double chocolate rocky road" cookies and package them with Godiva Chocolates. Actually Godiva alone isn't such a bad idea if the men in your life are anything like mine, and if you don't want to brave the crowds, the website has 8 pages of Father's day gifts offered at prices of under $50 up to $125.....The way I see it, this would be a fantastic way to not only give dad a tasty treat but to treat yourself at the same time for having such a great idea!

In past years I have even given gift boxes from Hickory Farms which works well if someone on your list is a lover of Hickory Farms meat and cheeses. The selection is actually quite diverse, with an impressive range of prices and selections for most any dad on your list and it's a cinch to shop online. As a matter of fact, on their main page they have featured a "Father's Day gift pail" for the golfing guy in your family, at a price of $19.99 as well as a favorites box for around $49.99...with many more choices in between.

And for those of you that want to shop in a "brick and Mortar" store but aren't sure where to go or what to do, I suggest you grab your local paper and turn right to the ads. From now until Christmas, many businesses are printing great ads that give you a virtual "treasure trove" of gifts to choose from. All the giver need do is make a list and pull out the plastic! Keeping a notebook and shopping early can really take a bite out of last minute stress...believe me!

Now these are but a few of the ideas I have for great gentleman gifting and I will be the first to admit I certainly don't have the corner on the best gifts, the best shops or the best online stores all over the country. In fact when you think about it, the ideas above are pretty darn basic! So, get out there and begin shopping....there are only about 3 months left before Christmas and if you're anything like me, you need all the help you can get!
