Christmas Food Gift Baskets for a Vegetarian

Paula Myers
A food gift basket is a great gift for the vegetarian in your life. He or she will know that you have really put a lot of thought into their gift. It's a good chance to buy something that they might not ordinarily buy for themselves. Coming up with creative menus is sometimes hard for vegetarians. You may put some food item in their gift basket that they've never even seen or thought or as being vegetarian. My youngest son is a vegetarian and we are both always looking for new products or recipes to use. This article will list some of the food items that you can put in your vegetarian gift basket.

Cheese Gift Basket
Vegetarians love all kinds of cheese and in any form. Buy any size gift basket that you want to use. Add shredded fancy paper or newspaper with a pretty material over the top to build up the bottom of the food gift basket. You can put a large round specialty cheese in the middle. Add an assortment of triangle, square, and rectangle shaped cheeses all around your main cheese. Buy two or three different kinds of specialty crackers to add to the food gift basket. If they are in individual rolls wrapped in plastic, you can take some of them out of the box. Place the crackers behind and to the sides of the cheese. Pita chips are also a good choice to add. Flavored cheese spreads in plastic containers are something that you can put in too. Be sure to add some assorted hard candy in between all the cheese and crackers. Once you have everything balanced, add a bow to the basket and it's ready to give.

Nuts, Seeds, and Trail Mix Gift Basket
Vegetarians love any kinds of nuts, seeds, and trail mixes. They are all an excellent source of protein. Walnuts have Omega 3 which Vegetarians really need. You can buy jars or cans of peanuts, pecans, almonds, or cashews. Buy a bag of assorted nuts that has walnuts, pecans, and almonds. Wal-Mart has a large round plastic container of roasted soy nuts that you can put in your food gift basket. My son really loves them. Dollar Tree has a large assortment of Trail mix that would be a great addition. They also have sunflower seeds and sunflower kernels. You can add a nut cracker to the food gift basket too. The vegetarian might not have one. Any vegetarian will be sure to like this gift.

Chinese Food Gift Basket
Most vegetarians love Chinese food. Make sure the vegetarian likes Chinese food first before you make this gift basket for them. The first thing that you want to put in your basket is some white or brown rice and some type of long noodle. You can add cans of Chinese vegetables, a bottle of Sesame oil, and a bottle of soy sauce. There are all kinds of Chinese seasoning mixes for Fried rice or Lo Mein that would be great to put in the food gift basket. A container of ginger, garlic powder, or minced Garlic is something that every vegetarian needs. A box of Fortune cookies would be the last item you need to add. This gift basket would be excellent for any Vegetarian that likes Chinese food.

Italian Food Gift Basket
This gift basket is really easy to put together. All you need is a jar of regular or traditional spaghetti sauce and spaghetti noodles. Throw in some baked garlic bread sticks. Add a container of Kraft Parmesan cheese. If you like, you can put in a package of whole Parmesan or Romano cheese and a grater. Buy a box of fancy cookies to put in. Be sure to add some fruit, nuts, or candy to your finished gift basket. This food gift basket is sure to please any Vegetarian.

Use any one of these food gift basket suggestions for the vegetarian in your life. Be creative and have fun.
