Christmas Gift Basket Ideas

John Vann
Christmas is a wonderful time to spend exchanging gifts with your most loved friends and family members. But if you are tired of having the same hassles year-in and year-out with gift wrapping paper and cardboard boxes that only end up in our country's landfills any way, rest assured that you with the majority. A great way to still show someone how much you care and help save our environment is by giving out gift baskets for this year's holiday season.

Baskets come in a variety of shapes, styles and colors. Some are made of wicker, plastic, or straw. You may prefer the brown or tan look of an uncolored basket, or you may want to go with a green and red colored basket to celebrate the holiday season. It all depends on what else you will be using to decorate your basket, as well as exactly what gift (or gifts) you are putting inside the basket.

While some larger presents may still have to be wrapped and put in individual boxes, gift baskets are an ideal solution for smaller gifts. Things like meat, cheese and crackers are common Christmas gifts, and look great when arranged side by side in a gift basket. Surround it with some decorative confetti, streamers or gift wrap and you've got a high quality, professional looking gift basket at only half the cost.

There are lots of small toys that go well with gift baskets, too. Action figures for the boys, dolls and stuffed animals for the girls; balls, video games, puzzles - they all work well in a gift basket. For a fun and creative twist on the ordinary basket, try to decorate your basket around the type of gifts that you are giving. For instance, a basket meant for a girl that contains a Barbie doll or two can be decorated with pink streamers and lace, while you may want to put in some camouflage for the basket that has the G.I. Joe action figures in it.

Your possibilities are endless when putting together a gift basket for Christmas. As long as you put your mind to it, and take a little bit of time to put everything together, the recipient is sure to love your gift. And once they realized it's all being presented in a unique, handmade gift basket that was meant solely for them - they'll really know just how much you care.
