Christmas Gift Ideas for the Big Boys in Your Life

Claire Luna-Pinsker
When it comes to Christmas gifts for men, forget about the practical. Men do not want shirts, ties or slippers. They shake, flip, and toss boxes aside like six year old boys in search for that toy box, the big Christmas train set. Here are a few gift ideas for the big boys in your life.

1-Tickets To A Concert

Not just to an opera or classical concert, unless it's something he prefers. Buy tickets to a concert he's asked to see and you were reluctant to go to. Bring ear plugs, grit your teeth, smile and endure two hours. Remember it's a Christmas gift.

2-Tickets To A Sporting Event

Go and attend with him without complaining or endless questioning. Or be selfless and allow him to take a buddy to the game while you find something else to do that evening.

3-Rescue Pet

He's always been asking for a dog, not your little nip-nip one, but a man's dog. Maybe he'd like a German shepherd, Labrador retriever, or even a mutt, a dog to be his companion when you're not around. A rescue dog can fulfill this need. Let him take a trip with you and select his own of course.

4-Sports Gear

This can include sneakers if you truly know his style and size. Certified licensed logo tees, sweats or hats, or coffee mugs or beer glasses. Maybe he needs a new golf club, fishing pole, tennis racket or bowling ball. A radio controlled car, truck or airplane to play with.

5-Home Improvement Gift Cards

What man doesn't want to spend a few hours fondling the latest model screwdriver? Maybe, "Mister home improvement," will get that long waited house repair done.

6-Latest iPhone

Who said women are the ones who talk on phones all the time? Since cell phones were invented the male gender's taken over the market on gab. And the more intricate gadgets the phone has the better.

7-Gym Membership

Whether he prefers to work out alone or prefers your company, a gym membership is the perfect gift for the fitness buff if he'll use it. But once you give as a gift you can't complain if he doesn't use it.

8-Jewelry

Not the cute half a heart charms please, perhaps a gold chain, a ring or a watch.

9-Vacation Surprise

A week-end or full ten day retreat vacation to a destination he's been talking about forever. Make all the plans to get there but once you're there the daily itinerary is his choosing, even if he wants to lie relaxing the entire time and not follow you to tourist trap gift shops.

10-Recliner

No matter how furniture styles change, the recliner remains as the basic male oriented piece. Breathe deeply and give in to his request. Warning, there is no injector buttons installed in recliners yet.

Stocking Stuffer Ideas

Lottery and/or scratch off tickets, Razors, Chap stick, Car wash gift certificates, Fast food coupons, Tums or Rolaids, Gum, Movie Coupons, CDs and DVDs.

Notice I didn't mention fancy sports cars, wall size flat HD televisions, or the latest fully equipped computers. These are all big boy Christmas dream toys, ones we much prefer Santa will bring.

Great Ideas! Thank you for sharing. Men are the hardest to buy for but I think you had some unique ideas that I will try.
