Put together your own cake-making kit.
For kids who love to cook and bake, but who haven't yet done much food preparation on their own, a cake-making kit makes a perfect Christmas gift. Simply prepare a gift bag or box filled with items such as: a boxed cake mix, a container of frosting, a cupcake pan, cupcake liners, a specialty or shaped cake pan, and any cake decorations you want, like sprinkles.
Indulge their inner Cookie Monster.
A great beginning project for any kid who loves to cook and bake, is to bake cookies. To make a cookie-baking days extra fun, consider giving cookie cutters as a Christmas gift. There is virtually no end to the choices when it comes to cookie cutters. From Disney shapes, to holiday symbols, to individual letters, a kid who loves to cook and bake has endless options for their creativity with cookies.
Let them learn how to decorate with icing.
One of the most enjoyable aspects of cake making is the decorating. Any kid who loves to cook and bake would likely be very happy to receive a selection of icing supplies as a Christmas gift. Include items such as disposable icing bags, a variety of frosting tips, Wilton frosting color gels, and a book or magazine with examples and instructions for specific icing projects.
Look for specialty items.
Kids who love to cook and bake will be thrilled to receive specialty cooking items as Christmas gifts. Check online, or in your local supply shop, for specialty items like Mickey Mouse pancake molds or egg molds, special utensils, or items like the Magic Bullet.
Don't forget cooking media.
If you're trying to find Christmas gifts for a kid who loves to cook and bake, consider instructional cooking media. For a kid who has a Nintendo DS game system, there are several cooking games to choose from, including America's Test Kitchen and Happy Cooking. Scour your local bookstore for kid-friendly cookbook. You can also find instructional DVD's by well known TV cooking personalities like Alton Brown, Rachel Ray, Paula Deen and Guy Fieri.
With so many choices, the challenge of finding Christmas gifts for a kid who loves to cook and bake, won't be in finding enough options, it will be in deciding which items to give!
