Christmas Gift Ideas for Mom or Grandmother

Inexpensive or Homemade Gifts for the Special Woman in Your Life

Nikki
Here are some inexpensive gifts ideas that any mom or grandmother would love. Some of these gifts are handmade and would be a great Christmas craft to do with your child.

Give your Mom or Grandmother a live miniature Christmas tree. They are available on the web and are delivered to you in a tiny pot. After the holidays are over the Christmas tree can be planted outdoors to enjoy year after year, making it a long lasting eco-friendly gift that will generate memories for the recipient every time they see it.

Make homemade bird feeders using gourds. Start out by slicing the gourd in half and scooping out the insides. Then use a small cordless drill with a half inch drill bit and make four holes in the sides of the gourd and make sure you space them evenly apart around the gourd. After the holes are drilled insert a wooden dowel through each hole and then attach a piece of wire to each dowel. Wrap the wire around the end of the wooden dowel that is closest to the gourd. Then all you have to do is fill the gourd with sesame seeds or dried fruits and nuts and hang them on a fence post, patio, or wherever you want to attract birds.

Give your Mom or Grandmother an Amaryllis plant. This plant will bloom out with either red or pink blossoms. The Amaryllis plant comes from the tropics and will have them daydreaming of a sun drenched tropical island even on the coldest winter days.

Purchase a plain wooden breadbox that is not decorated and embellish it yourself. You can create your own designs to paint on them using stencils as a guide. Another idea is to glue different color and shapes of refrigerator magnets on to the sides and top. Or, if you have kids, put your children's handprints and their names on the breadbox using non- toxic paints. This will give the gift that extra special personal touch.

Make a tablecloth using a plain white cotton flour sack and apply pictures of the family on to the tablecloth using non-toxic glue or a glue gun. Let the entire family place their names and handprints onto the tablecloth. Be sure to write the creation date on it as well so Mom or Grandmother can remember the year it was given to them.

Place all the dry ingredients from your favorite recipe for chocolate chip cookies, blueberry muffins, a cake - the possibilities are endless! Then layer the dry ingredients inside of a mason jar. The only thing for the recipient to add will be the eggs and milk. Write the recipe on a gift card and then tie the card with a ribbon to the outside of the jar.
