Christmas Gift Ideas for Teachers

When choosing a Christmas gift for a teacher, it is not necessary to spend a lot of money, just think of something that is useful which he or she would appreciate. Here are some ideas:

Student Created Gift-Team up with the art teacher to see if you can go into the classroom and direct the students in writing their own version of "'Twas a Teacher's Night Before Christmas." Ask the art teacher if she could have the students illustrate it.

Candygram- Create candygrams, one for each day of winter break, with cute messages. For example attach a note card to a 100 Grand candy bar saying, "This is the salary you deserve." Or include a note with a pack of Smarties which reads, "The Smarties in your class are so lucky to have a fabulous teacher like you!"

Gift of Time- Many teachers have additional duties outside of the classroom, monitoring the playground or lunchroom, making copies. Make up some cute coupons to relieve him or her of their duties.

Giftcards-Get together with other parents and chip in to purchase a giftcard to a spa, local bookstore, nice restaurant, the movies, or a teacher supply store. -

Winter Gift Basket- Gather up items that one would need on hand during winter and place in a gift basket. These items could include a window scraper, lock deicer, box of tissues, some antiseptic lotion, disinfecting spray and chicken noodle soup.

Personal Note - The best gift one could give is a personal handwritten thank you note, on beautiful stationary letting the teacher know how much he or she is appreciated. You may also consider sending a copy of this letter to the principal and superintendent.
