Christmas Gifts for Children that Have Everything

Craft Supplies, Books and Tickets

What do you do if you have a child on your Christmas gift list that already has every toy ever made? Instead of buying yet another toy to add to the pile, think outside of the box and find a gift that will be unique and appreciated.

Craft Gifts for Christmas

Most children like some type of craft project. Some children like painting, others like Play-doh and some like crochet. Ask the parent if there are any particular craft supplies that can be replenished. Quality drawing paper and colored pencils make a great gift for a budding comic book artist. Origami paper and instruction books make fun gifts for those that like challenging crafts. Young crafters will like a Play-doh factory with a colorful supply of Play-doh.

The Gift of Books

Think back to your childhood, particularly when you were the same age as the child you need to buy a Christmas gift for. What books did you enjoy reading? Was there a special book that you loved at that age? Find a copy of that book and write a special note on the inside cover telling the child what that book meant to you and that you hope he enjoys it as much as you did.

Books that have stood the test of time and are enjoyed by many are The Hobbit by J.R.R. Tolkien, Little Women by Louisa May Alcott and The Secret Garden by Frances Hodgson Burnett. Younger children will enjoy a richly illustrated picture book, such as anything by Jan Brett or Iza Trapani.

Tickets to a Special Outing for a Christmas Gift

Tickets to a special outing make great Christmas gifts. Grandparents may want to give tickets and an invitation to go on an outing with the grandchild. Give movie tickets with the promise of a night at a movie of the child's choice. Or, if the child enjoys plays and musicals, tickets to a special show will be a valued Christmas gift. For children that love music, give tickets to a favorite musician's concert.

It doesn't have to be difficult to buy Christmas gifts for children. Think beyond the toy store and look for Christmas gifts that will be appreciated and used with enthusiasm. Crafts supplies, books and tickets to a special outing can all be exciting Christmas gifts if chosen with the child's interests in mind.

Terrific gift ideas Lucy! I especially love to give books as holiday gifts.
