Christmas Gifts for Men: 5 Ways to Impress the Guy in Your Life

Heather Belle
Men can be some of the easiest people out there to shop for when it comes to Christmas gifts; all you have to do is figure out something that really peaks his interest and find a Christmas gift that goes along with that interest.

Sporting Event Tickets - Most guys have some type of interest in a sport; whether it is football, basketball, racing, hockey, etc., there is always some type of sport event going on and an awesome Christmas gift idea for any guy is tickets to a game. If you live near a major city that hosts nationally known teams, decide which type of sporting event you want to buy tickets to and then check the calendar for days the team you want to see is playing. Sporting event tickets can be pricey and vary greatly depending upon the sport. If you are on a budget, check out hockey or baseball tickets; you can get decent seats for under $100.00. Do not have a strict budget? Look in to football and basketball tickets; these can run hundreds of dollars a piece for good seats.

If you do not live near a major sporting venue or are on a limited budget, find a local team. I bought 4 tickets for a minor league baseball game, along with dinner at the park for all 4 of us, and paid right around $30.00.

This is a great Christmas gift to give to any man; you can buy tickets for him to go with his friends, or to take his family along. If you would like, you can specify who is going to the game with him, or tell him it is his choice. (Do not be surprised if he makes it a guy's day/night out though!)

The Dark Knight - What guy does not have some sort of memory watching Batman and playing with Batman action figures growing up? Batman's most recent movie, The Dark Knight, will be out on DVD in time for Christmas. We saw this move in the theater, and it was a huge hit with every guy there. So, why not bring that excitement and reminder of childhood back to life by buying this DVD as a Christmas gift.

If you want to make this gift a bit more fun, go buy the guy in your life a Batman action figure to go along with the DVD. You can open the figure and use some ribbon to tie him on to the outside of the gift-wrapped package as an accent, or you can wrap it up with the DVD. Every one loves to get a new toy - no matter how old they are. There is no better way to relive a part of your childhood than at Christmas time!

You can buy The Dark Knight anywhere that DVDs are sold for around $20.00, once it is released in early December.

Local Bar/Pub Gift Card - Go to the guy in your life's favorite local hang out and get him a gift card in any amount. You can price out the drinks he normally orders and decide how many drinks you would like to pay for; and, if that bar has a pool table, you can price a game or two out, too. If you would like to make this an even better Christmas gift for the man in your life, you can add on enough for a couple of his friends to go with him, get a few drinks, and play some pool, air hockey, etc. Every guy enjoys being able to go out and have a guy's night to relax after a long week, so he will be thrilled if you plan one of those nights for him. If you want to plan an extra fun night for him and do not have a limited budget, you can even set up transportation - a taxi, limo etc. The sky is the limit with this idea; just make sure to revolve the plans around what he will enjoy doing and not what you would want him to do; there is a huge difference in giving him a gift for something he loves compared to giving him a gift card to go out to do something you think he should do.

Lunch Gift Cards - If the man in your life eats lunches out during work often, find some places around his work location where he likes to frequent. Narrow your list down depending upon how much you have to spend on the Christmas gift. Then, go to a few of those places and buy a gift card that will cover his lunch. If he likes to eat a lot of fast food lunches, you can always get a $5 or $10 gift card to quite a few places to cover multiple lunches. Or, you can buy just one gift card to a nice restaurant (steak house, sushi locale, etc.) that will cover a higher-priced lunch.

Put the gift cards in a basket and write a card about paying for his lunches out; or, you can put them each in an individual bag. Just be creative! This is a great gift that will allow him not to worry about covering a lunch here and there; and, he will know you pay attention to the details in his life.

Magazine Subscription - For a Christmas gift idea that keeps on giving for a year, figure out his favorite hobby and get him a subscription to a magazine that relates to that hobby. If he is in to sports, a great magazine to subscribe to is Sports Illustrated. But, there are magazines out there for every guy - hunting, fishing, cars, computers, gaming, etc. And, with print sales decreasing, many magazines are offering great prices for subscriptions (some as low as $40.00 a year). Just Google the name of the magazine you are interested in and compare prices from different websites.

When giving this gift, you can buy a current copy of the magazine from a local stand and wrap it up. Include a note that he will be getting a new copy of that magazine every month for the next year (or longer, depending upon how long you decide to make the subscription.)

These are some great Christmas gift ideas for men; just think about what he enjoys doing in his every day life when doing your shopping, and you'll be sure to impress!

Some good ideas here- I agree on the magazine subscription: that's something that my hubby would enjoy getting.

Good tips! I like the the magazine idea. You're right, most people do their reading online, but there is no substitute for a magazine when it comes to "bahroom" reading, you know, for the the guy who is a true multi-tasker.
