Christmas Gifts for Stay-At-Home Moms

DeeDee
Stay-at-home moms have one of the toughest jobs there is. Their job of caring for their children, the rest of the family and taking care of the house never ends. And during all the chores, appointments, and other running around, mom's needs often go unnoticed. For Christmas, get her the best Christmas present you can get her - something for HER. Forget a new appliance or some decorative thing for the house. The Christmas gift can be her favorite thing or maybe even something to make her life a little easier. Either way, don't get her something that you'll use in the near future. It has to be for her.

Spa day
There are plenty of spas around that offer various types of massages from hot stone therapy to quick chair massages. And if you look in the Clipper Magazine or other local magazine that supplies coupons, you can usually find coupons to spas that will help your mom get more for her money. If the cost is way out of your league for a Christmas gift, visit a school of Massage for a gift certificate. Their prices are usually a lot less expensive, but you'll still get the benefit of an educated masseuse.

Beauty salon
What could be more relaxing for mom than to kick back and read her favorite book or magazine while having her foot massage during a pedicure? Give a large enough gift card to allow her to get a manicure after wards too. She deserves it!

Maid service
Ok, this gift doesn't shower mom directly, but it will allow her time to herself. Contact a reputable maid service and make arrangements for them to clean mom's home for a week, a month, or a year. No matter what the duration, mom will appreciate the extra time to herself when she doesn't have to clean and can take a bubble bath, a walk or some other activity that she enjoys.

Month of meals
Same applies to the month of meals. What you are essentially giving her is the gift of time. There are many local places where you can order premade meals that can be frozen, saving mom time from cooking dinner, and giving her a healthy dinner on nights when she has to run the kids here and there. Instead of going to McDonald's she can just reach in the freezer and defrost something a little more healthy. Again, if this is too expensive of a Christmas gift, you can always do it yourself. Hit the supermarket with coupons and buy things on sale. Then take everything home and make it yourself. Wrap everything up in Tupperware containers or Ziploc freezer bags and Viola! Instant meals for mom!

Classes
Personal growth classes can not only help you learn a hobby, but can be a lot of fun. You can usually make something you are interested in while mingling with other people that have the same interest. Sign mom up for classes at a local craft store, art studio, or community college. She'll have a great time while empowering herself to do something new.

Flowers
Contact a local florist and request that they send your mom a beautiful bouquet of flowers every month. Ask that they are appropriate to the month and season. Too costly? Again, you can do it yourself. The supermarket and wholesale places like Sam's Club or BJ's offer gorgeous flowers at low prices. If you are going to do it yourself every month though, make sure you do it. Don't forget. You'll brighten up her day and a room in her house with your thought Christmas gift that will last year round.

Merry Christmas!

I understand the thought behind this article, but I have to tell you that I would much rather have a Kitchen-Aid mixer or a food processor than a spa day! LOL Perhaps that makes me an unusual SAHM, but I think that there are more of us out there than people think. Most of your gift ideas are things that would be gone in at most a month (the classes being the exception), but an item to make things easier on a day to day basis will last much longer and every time that she uses it she will think of her family and how nice it was that they bought it for her. Just another perspective...
