Whether you are new to Oahu or looking for new Christmas holiday activities and events to help celebrate, there is plenty to do for the young and young at heart. Prior to my transfer here to Honolulu, Hawaii, I tried to imagine what our first Christmas would be like on the island of Oahu. If you are looking for an enchanting Mele Kalikimaka time, you will find it here on Oahu.

There is actually many holiday events celebrating Christmas here on Oahu, Hawaii, we can not experience them all in one year. My family has resided here for over three years and we have developed a few favorites and plan on working in new seasonal Hawaiian style events.

Germaine's Luau

If you are new to Hawaii and have not experienced a Hawaiian Luau, I highly recommend you book one! This has been my family's favorite Hawaiian style tradition. Our current favorite is Germaine's Luau. We actually participated in this luau on Christmas Eve. My family deemed it a perfect evening and we hope to return and enjoy another luau hosted by Germaine's.

Bellows Air Force Station

Winter is a great time to spend time on the beach here in Hawaii. The temperature is a bit cooler, but the water is still warm and inviting. It's my family's winter tradition to go camping a couple of weeks prior to Christmas. If you are a military family, check into Bellows Air Force Station.
Here you will find Bellows beach a wonderful outing. There are many beaches with camping access on the island of Oahu. Lifeguards often get into the Christmas spirit by dressing in a Santa suit, and riding into a beach by Jet Ski. This is a delightful surprise especially for the children.

Waimanalo, Hawaii 96795

For more information on camping at Waimanalo, call the Parks Permit Section at (808) 523-4525.

Waimanalo beach is a long and white sandy beach that is popular to tourists and local residents. My family has frequently visited this beach. We always found parking here which is usually difficult at other popular beaches. In addition, we found this beach to have a cool breeze blowing through. We always have a wonderful time here at Waimanalo.

Here you will find:

The Pearlridge Express at Pearlridge Shopping Center is an enchanting ride through a Christmas candy village on a mini sized locomotive. My daughter got her ears pierced for an early Christmas gift and was rewarded for her bravery by taking a ride on the Pearlridge Express. After her ride came to an end, she requested to get her ears pierced again in hope to ride the train again. It was that much fun!

While at Pearlridge Shopping Center, you may want to visit Santa Claus. This makes for a great photo shoot and memory of your Christmas in Hawaii.

Re:Cabin Girl Annie, I haven't noticed a change in crowd during the hoiday season on Oahu. Waikiki is always busy from what I understand. I don't venture that way due to crowds. Avoiding rush hours is key and parking can be limted. Try to get to places early. Enjoy your stay. Aloha!
