Christmas Horror Movies to Rent on Halloween

1.Gremlins(1984) -This is a horror/comedy. It happens on Christmas Eve and directed by Joe Dante, released by Warner Bros. The film is about a young man who receives a strange creature called a mogwai as a pet, which then spawns other creatures who transform into small, destructive, evil monsters. Stars Zach Galligan and Phoebe Cates, with Howie Mandel providing the voice of Gizmo.

2. Silent Night, Deadly Night (1984) - a slasher film directed by Charles E. Sellier Jr. and starring Robert Brian Wilson, Lilyan Chauvin, Gilmer McCormick, Toni Nero, Britt Leach and Leo Geter. It is about a young boy who witnesses his parents' murder at the hands of a man clad in a Santa suit on Christmas. He grows up in a Catholic orphanage and becomes a killer. The film has developed a devoted cult following because of its Christmas/horror theme. It has had four sequels.

3.Jack Frost (1996) - This is another horror/comedy. A dead serial killer comes back as snowman and terrorizes Snowmonton. Stars Scott MacDonald and Christopher Alport. It was written and directed by Michael Cooney.

4. Lady in the Lake (1947) - This noir mystery takes place on Christmas. The storyline revolved around a conventional murder mystery similar to many others, however it was notable for the perspective presented to the viewer. The entire film was seen from the viewpoint of the central character, the detective Philip Marlowe, played by Robert Montgomery.

5. Christmas Evil (1980) - Because of a boyhood trauma during Christmas, a man remains obsessed with the holiday, becoming a toy maker and keeping track of which children are naughty and nice. After learning of his company's corporate greed he snaps and goes on a killing spree dressed as Santa.

6.Black Christmas (1974, remade 2006directed by Glen Morgan and stars Katie Cassidy, Michelle Trachtenberg, Kristen Cloke. Typical slasher type stuff.) - A stranger terrorizes sorority girls during the holiday break. The 2006 version is

7. Don't Open Till Christmas (1984) - A murderer stalks the streets of London killing those dressed in a Santa Claus suit. Stars Edmund Purdom as the inspector trying to stop the killer and Alan Lake as Giles.

8. Tales from the Crypt (1972) - The first segment in this horror anthology is about a woman who kills her husband in their house on Christmas Eve, and is thus unable to call the police when a madman in a Santa costume is outside of the house.

9. Santa Claws (1996) - A Horror-movie actress is stalked by a fan while shooting a Christmas-themed film. Hard-to find B movie directed by John A. Russo and starring Debbie Rochon, Grant Cramer and John Mowod.

10. To All a Good Night (1980) - A killer Santa Claus stalks sorority girls at a Christmas party. Stars Jennifer Runyon and Forrest Swanson. A lot of sex and dirty talk, but not much of a plot.
