Christmas lesson plans for preschoolers
Little ones have creative little minds. They are so full of energy. Christmas will be here before you know it. Teachers are always looking for new ways to teach our little ones. Children are like sponges that absorb information quickly. Are you a teacher looking for some easy activities to teach children about Christmas holiday?
Here are a few activities your classroom will enjoy.
Hand-printed wreaths
Hand-printed wreaths are beautiful works of art that are easy to create. The wreaths can be made of colored felt or construction paper. The hand-printed wreath can be split into two projects. The class can make one wreath to hang on the classroom door. The other wreath can be taken home to decorate.
Hand-printed trees
Christmas trees are a beautiful tradition. Children love to decorate and create things with their hands. One student can make his or her very own tree with two little hands. The trees can be dolled up with strings of lights, stars and ornaments. Stickers can be used to help the kids decorate the trees easier.
Stockings
Stockings are inexpensive to purchase. To save money and time, large tube socks can be used. These can be decorated with stickers, objects and their name. Their names can be spelled out in candy. Stockings can be filled with candy and little toys.
Popcorn garland
Popcorn garland is a beautiful addition to any home or classroom decor. Popcorn is inexpensive to purchase and can be found at any dollar store. You will need quite a bit of it to make a good-sized garland. The popcorn can be colored with paint or food coloring.
Each activity needs to be monitored by an adult. No preschooler should be left unattended. And beware, these activities can become very messy. It is best of to have the parents bring an extra pair of clothes during any of these activities. These crafts can be created throughout the month of December and will help kids learn about the holidays.
The traditional colors are red and green. A splash of silver and gold will bring the holidays close to home. Colored construction paper, scissors, glue sticks and stickers are all you really need. As the teacher, you need to always help the children who need extra attention with these tools. A watchful eye is a must with children.
