Christmas Light Bulb Crafts

You can turn many household items into something decorative and beautiful for the holidays. One such item is a used light bulb. You can recycle your light bulbs by crafting them into the more adorable ornaments. You may find you like making light bulb ornaments so much that you may need to go out and buy new light bulbs just to keep up with your craft!

Christmas Light Bulb Craft #1 - Snowman Light Bulb: This little snowman is simply sweet! and at first glance, it's hard to tell that it's even a light bulb. But if you look again, you will see that the socket is actually the top of the black hat. All you need to make this snowman ornament is some paint and a round piece of felt. Christmas Light Bulb Craft #2 - Rudolph the Red Nosed Reindeer Light Bulb: This is a very cute light bulb ornament that kids will love to make. You will need craft paint and some pipe cleaners. For the red nose, you can just paint it red or you can glue on a pom pom. To see a photo of this recycled light bulb Christmas ornament and to get the full instructions on how to make it click here.

Christmas Light Bulb Craft #3 - Christmas Doily Light Bulb: This is a grown up light bulb craft. You use a doily to cover a light bulb and you end up with a beautiful Christmas ornament. If you don't want to use a doily, you could buy some cheap white netting at any fabric store or Walmart and use the netting instead. It's not lacy, but it will be pretty just the same. Christmas Light Bulb Craft #4 - Cardinal Light Bulb: This is another grown up light bulb ornament. This one is very rich looking, but you will need to be quite crafty to complete it. This is not a good project for beginner crafters of little kids. To see a photo of this recycled light bulb Christmas ornament and to get the full instructions on how to make it click here.

Be very careful when handling light bulbs as they can break easily. Do not let very young children make this craft. And supervise older kids too. You may want to lay a nice soft blanket on the work space in case bulbs are dropped. They won't break easily on a soft blanket. Experiment by coming up with your own light bulb designs and have fun with it! And if you use a good light bulb, never turn it on or the paint can burn. Stay safe!
