Downtown Chicago is magically decorated with Christmas during the Holiday Season. Walk or drive down Michigan Avenue, known as the Magnificent Mile, and be enchanted by the light show. The City of Chicago Christmas Tree is lit and in display on Daley Plaza, along with Santa Claus and the German Christmas Market.. The grand department store stores, including Macy's the the stores at Water Tower Place have filled their display windows with delightful Christmas scenes and decorations.

Navy Pier will be transformed into a winter wonderland featuring hundreds of lush decorated trees, sparkling lights, a main town square and wintertime decorations. An ice skating and an in-line skating rink will be featured, in addition to large-scale inflatable games, including a bungee run and slides. Santa Claus and his toy-making elves will listen to children's wishes at Santa's Holiday Village atop a mountain.

The 13th Annual Hancock Holiday Mountain Railroad is on display. The model train is an elaborate miniature railroad exhibited in showcases. See twelve model freight and passenger trains run through 1,400 square feet of snow covered trees, mountains, and towns, which are decorated for the holidays. Free display.Tickets to the Observatory are; Adults $9.95. Senior $7.50, Children $6.00.

Admission to the Lincoln Park Zoo is free.

With the theme, "Dashing through the Snow," it is no surprise that this year's Christmas Around the World celebration pays homage to winter's most celebrated and chilly companion: snow. With flake under foot, explore the Museum of Science and Industry's Grand Tree in the Rotunda. Snow and ice crystals grace the branches with iridescent hues of purple, blue and silver.A walk through the parade of trees take you on an international tour from India to Ireland to Iceland-just to name a few. Welcome additions to the exhibit this year are the Italian tree and the Thailand tree. A spectacular line-up of traditional ethnic musical and dance performances enrich this festive international celebration.

The Skydeck, on the 103rd floor of the Sears Tower offers views of four states, up to 50 miles away.
