Christmas Makes Me Atheistic

A Poem About Christmas and Atheism

Peter Flom
Christmas makes me atheistic
Because it's so materialistic
Instead of love we've got some slick shtick
If Jesus saw he would get sick quick.

Early shoppers pepper sprayed
I wonder if the sprayer prayed?
"Please God! Let me be first in line"
"An X-box would be mighty fine".

Endlessly buying useless c**p
And letting Jesus take the wrap.
Instead of trying to spread joy
We cover everyone in toys.

It's fine to celebrate the day
But could we do it a better way?

We could. But we probably won't, in general. It's up to each of us individually. Nice poem.

Although Christmas doesn't make me atheistic (in fact, it increases my faith in God), I do agree with your sentiment that the holiday has become more and more commercialized and less and less spiritual. Indeed, there is a better way to celebrate... resolve to love each other more ad do good for others. Excellent work, thanks!

I love the use of "wrap" instead of rap, it's so fitting...

Excellent! Pretty soon, the day after Halloween will be the "official" start of the Christmas buying season! And that is scarier than any Halloween costume.

It's not Christmas - it is the lack of Christ that I miss. cheers :)

My feelings too. I don't think I could feel Atheistic, but there seems to be a lot of folks out there that need someone to lead them in the right direction.
