Tracy Hermanstorfer stopped breathing and went into cardiac arrest while in the midst of labor at Memorial Hospital in Colorado Springs. After futilely trying to revive her, doctors decided to perform an emergency C section to at least save the baby. But the baby, Coltyn, came out of his mother's womb also lifeless, unbreathing.
One can just imagine the thoughts going through Mike Hermanstorfer, who apparently was not only suddenly widowed, but was presented with a stillborn son. Nevertheless doctors worked to revive the baby and, eventually, he began to breath again. Shortly thereafter, Tracy Hermanstorfer also began to breath and then awake, as if from a deep sleep.
Believers will be forgiven if they find the hand of the Almighty in the above events. Christmas Eve, dead mom and then dead baby, followed by live baby and live mom; the entire story would have been incredible for a Hallmark Hall of Fame movie of the week had it not actually happened.
Those of a more secular bent will suspect that a series of unexplained, but natural events happened coincidentally, aided by the skills of the doctors who helped to revive their dead patients. One often ascribes to the Divine what one cannot yet explain with science. The Sun was once a chariot of a god flying over the Earth. Now it is a ball of burning gas. In both instances, it is the source of light, heat, and life. The life, death, and then life of Tracy and Coltyn Hermanstorfer contains as much capacity for awe no matter how one explains it.
But the secular explanation does not make the story of Tracy Hermanstorfer and her baby any less remarkable. Mike Hermanstorfer must surely have a new appreciation of the capricious nature of fate. Within a matter of minutes, the two people he must value more than any others in the world were taken away and then restored. The obvious lesson that one should appreciate people in one's life to the fullest, for no one knows what tomorrow can bring, is a Christmas present far more valuable that any that can be bought at the mall or online.

Post a CommentAT Ben-- THe reason it would hurt is because just like you want to leave it as a miracle he has the right to say its not. you cant be one sided. he has just as much right to is OPINION as you do. and it is just an OPINION, no more no less. Just like you chose ot believe he chooses not to. Both are just opinions but one has no phyisical Proof. you choose to believe. and just like he said about the sun, that is a true statement, Gods change with the times and if you want to believe it or not I promise that 2000 years from now, there will be another change or another top god. look at how the greeks thought that there were several gods and they all answered to zeus. but I bet your the type of person that laughs at that notion huh? well, back then that was the god of the time. I suggest that YOU grow up. and think outside of your little box. The world is alot bigger than what u were brought up to think...DO u even realize the ONLY reason your christian now is due to the fact that you were r
As an Rn I have seen much of life. I am a believer in something way larger than ourselves.I love reading stories like this.

No matter how one looks at this story, God gave this man and his family a true Christmas present and one could not ask for a better one. God wants people to know that he does listen and that he does perform Miracles and that it does not matter how you see those miracles, life could not be more precious to anyone and this was just Gods way of trying to wake people up to show them that he does exist. God gave life and can take it away just as quickly as he gave it so be thankful for everyday that you are here and for every minute because you never know when your life could be over with. Congrats on your miracle Mr. Hermanstorfer, cherish them forever.
whoa! unbelievable! makes one believe in God, doesn't it? Its miracles like these that give you a sort of comfort that there is indeed a higher authority looking down on us. And he does listen to us, contrary to what we may believe or perceive!
It was all in God's hands. Great explanation Mad Monica
Amen Mad Mad Monica!
God bless this family with many many days together. I haven't read anything so moving in my life. Thank you God for such proof of your existence. I defy non-believers to say this is anything OTHER than proof of the existence of a benevolent creator.
