Christmas Movies Showing on the Hallmark Channel

It's the time of year again when TV watchers enjoy sitting down to watch a sentimental Christmas movie. Hallmark Channel got an early start this year so those looking for a feel-good movie have ample time to view them because they're showing them multiple times. Several really good ones are listed below.

"A Christmas Visitor" is the story of the Boyajian family who live in a small town and who lost their son in Desert Shield. Because they received the news at Christmas and they were overwhelmed with grief, they quit observing the holiday. It is twelve years later when George Boyajian decides it is time to welcome Christmas back into their home. Meeting a displaced veteran named Matthew on Christmas Eve, George invites him into their home overnight, and the encounter with the young man brings healing for his family. The movie stars William Devane, Meredith Baxter and Dean McDermitt.

"The Ultimate Gift" is the story of Jason Stevens, a spoiled young man living off his trust fund who is summoned by his grandfather's business partner at the reading of his grandfather's will. The grandfather, played by James Garner of "Maverick" fame, leaves his grandson a video explaining that one of his last wishes is to give him the ultimate gift. From that point on, Jason has a series of trials to complete before he can receive his gift. Along the way, Jason meets a terminally ill young girl who wins his heart. The movie stars Drew Fuller, Bill Cobbs and Abigail Breslin and leaves the viewer with a wonderfully uplifting experience.

"The Christmas Choir" is a movie inspired on a true story of a man volunteering at a homeless shelter who realized the musical talent of some of the residents. In this story, Peter Brockman who has suffered a loss of spirituality, renews his spirit as he works with the men to form a choir which performs in the subway stations and moves to other venues. Through his devotion, and the prodding and pushing of the director Sister Agatha, played by Rhea Perlman of "Cheers," Jason's assistance and encouragement help not only himself but those in the choir as well. The movie stars Jason Gedrick, Rhea Perlman, Tyrone Benskin and Marianne Farley.

And what would Christmas be without a Scrooge replica. For those who love the eternal story of "A Christmas Carol" Hallmark also presents "Ebbie," starring Susan Lucci. Ebbie is a driven business woman who has spent her life chasing the almighty dollar, and during a night of visitation of the three spirits, her life is changed. "Ebbie" is a delightful modern version of a classic tale.

My faves are "A Christmas Carol," both the old, Reginald Owen, Gene Lockhart version and the awesomely wonderful George C. Scot version. It ain't Christmas if I don't see one of them.

I haven't watched any Hallmark movies since I moved out of my parents' house (it's been awhile!).

Wow, a notification! These are great movies, but I really don't like Ebbie, even though I've watched "All My Children" since its inception, Susan Lucci is no longer who I want to be when I grow up because they've never let Erica grow up and she is nothing but annoying now!
