Materials Needed
For this project, you will need a small amount of felt, preferably in two different colors. You will need a set of two plastic eyes for each mouse you want to make. For assembling the mouse, you will need scissors and a hot glue gun and glue cartridges.
Getting Started
Choose a felt color for the mouse's body, and then cut out an oval the size you want the mouse's body to be. Trim one side of the oval into a point for the mouse's nose.
You can use the same color felt for the mouse's ears, but choosing another color will help them stand out more. Cut out a rectangle of this felt a little larger than you want the ears to be. Trim the rectangle down until you have an exaggerated figure-8 shape, with a slightly elongated narrow middle and large round ends.
From either color felt, cut out a skinny, slightly curved tail shape for your mouse's tail.
Felt Mouse Assembly
Take the mouse's body and fold the pointed nose end down toward the rest of the body. Using your scissors, cut two small parallel slits in the folded over part. Unfold the mouse. Slide the mouse's ears through the two slits, so that the rounded ends stick out on either side of the mouse.
Using the hot glue gun, glue the two plastic eyes and tail on your mouse.
How to Hang the Felt Mouse
Gently tug the middle part of the mouse's ear piece so that it separates slightly from the mouse's body. This will perk up the mouse's ears a little, but also creates a small loop underneath the mouse. Slide the mouse onto a tree branch, where it will sit securely.
