Christmas Party Games

Brandi Thornsberry
Do you plan on having a Christmas party this year? If so then you need some sort of games to play, unless you want to have board guest. No one wants to have guest who are board. They wont have any fun at your party and may not want to return to them in the future.

Santa Hats

(a great ice breaker game)

You will need to have a Santa hat for each person. If you are going to have a lot of people at your party then tell people to bring a Santa hat with them, so you don't have to go out and purchase all of them . This will help save on some of the party expenses. You will need to have one prize for the winner. Everyone starts off by sitting in the same room where you can see and hear everyone. Then you will start off by asking questions so you can eliminate people from the group. When you ask the questions they must say their name and answer the question. For instance, you could ask something like who has a birthday in December. Then who ever has a Birthday in December would stand up. You would go around and as you take their hats, they have to say their name and their birthday. The last person to have their hat on wins a prize. This makes a great icebreaker game and people really tend to love this.

Gift Wrap Game

(just like hot potato)

This game is pretty classic. For those of you who don't know how to play then you are in for a good surprise. You will need to have a small gift (two if you have a lot of people) and you will want to wrap this gift several times. Its easier if you have different colors of wrapping paper so you guest will know where the new layers start. Everyone needs to sit in a circle, or two circles if you have a lot of people. Turn on your radio with some nice Christmas music. As the music plays the gifts are passed around the circle. When the music stops who ever is holding the gift should unwrap one layer. Start the music back up and the gift passing should continue. The game ends when someone unwraps the last layer and then they get to keep the prize.

Name That Carol

A great version of Name that song. You will need to have a present wrapped up, a chalkboard or large piece of paper for score keeping. You will also need to have some different classic Christmas songs. Have everyone sit near the radio and play a short piece of a song. Keep it short a few seconds at the most. You have to make this kind of hard. Who ever yells the correct name the fastest gets a point. Who ever has the most points at the end of your contest gets the present.

Holiday Gift Grab

This is another all time favorite. You can either request each guest to bring a small present wrapped up, or you can purchase enough presents for everyone. If you have everyone bring a gift, you should have a few extras just in case a few forgot or if you have a few guest who just showed up. This way everyone has a gift. As they walk in take the gift and write a number on the gift and also write the same number on a piece of paper and place it in a hat or bowl. Towards the end of the party have everyone gather up and one at a time gets to choose a number. Then they get to match their number up with the prize. This way everyone gets to leave with at least one prize and no one feels left out. This is great for adults and children.
