Christmas Party Games for the Office

Holiday parties in the office can be a great time, if you plan them right. One of the most important parts of planning a great party in the office is the games. You want to make sure that you have enough to entertain the crowd, but not so many that people feel overwhelmed or rushed. So here are three ideas for party games that are fun, but won't take up too much time.

Christmas Movie Trivia

This is a classic. You can tailor it to your players, whether they be older, younger or a mix between the two. You can also tailor it based on the length of your party. It can be a long game, or a short one. You can play as individuals or as team members.

Come up with plenty of questions, and multiple choice answers for each one. For example, who played Scrooge in the 1988 film version of the classic tale? Or, who wrote the Nightmare Before Christmas? What was the boy's present in The Polar Express, etc. etc. Whoever gets the most right, wins the game!

Who Am I?

The game can be tailored to any holiday really. It's a classic game where party goers have a name taped to their backs, but they don't know what it is. They can asked questions, such as "Am I a man or a woman?" or "Am I a fictional character?"

The challenge here is to make it Christmas related. You can go with the classics, such as Santa, the Grinch, the Drummer Boy. If you want to go modern and use movies such as a Christmas Story, you can do that too. Just make sure you have plenty of options because it's been my experience that once people get going, they love to play this game.

Santa Hat Game

This one is always fun, but it requires you to get plenty of Santa Hats. One for everyone in your office that's attending, actually. But once you get a hat for everyone, give it to them as they enter the party. Have someone be the "leader" and make sure everyone else knows who it is. Everyone has to follow the leader and take their hat off when the leader does, and the last person with a hat on loses. Make sure the leader knows not to do it right away, but wait until people become distracted by other aspects of the party. The last one with a hat on has to sing a Christmas Carol, or some other hilarious punishment. This game can be played multiple times with different leaders too.
