Christmas Party: How to Host the Perfect, Stress Free, Adults Only, Holiday Party
A Christmas Party for Those 21 and Over
If your lucky enough to have the outdoor space, and the weather allows for an outdoor party, congratulations. A fire pit, to warm your guest, mixed with a nice cool evening, makes a wonderful setting. But, if it's to cold where you live in December, you'd better plan the event indoors. You will need to print your own invitations, or buy the type that allows you to fill in the information. Be sure to write on the card "Adults Over 21 Only" and explain why. A note like "this is a DE-stress party" or "this is a break away party" will do fine.
Due to the simple fact most adults have children, break away for the ordinary routine. Parents need to be home early, so plan you party during appropriate hours. Anytime between noon and nine o'clock works best. Your party should only be a few hours long, somewhere between 2 to 4 hours are perfect. You don't want your guest spending the Holidays in the slammer, so limit the alcohol, make your party B.Y.O.B, or have no alcohol at all. As for food, keep it simple. A few finger food dishes works great.
Indoors or out, you will want to keep the noise level down. Playing soft music is fine, but remember this is a time for the adults to have conversation, and relax. With that being said there is no need to planed games either. If you want to do a gift exchange, keep it simple. Requesting each person bring one gift valued at $10.00 or so, is a simple request. As the guest arrive have them put there presents under the tree. Before your guest leave have them take one gift from under the tree (one they didn't bring) and open it. It's a simple, fun way to add Holiday cheer, after all even adults love gifts.
Goodie bags might seem like a kids party idea, but adults need them to. To make your own goodie bags, buy small 5 inch gift bags, and write "Holiday survival bag" on the tag. Inside the bag you can add all sorts of goodies, which will let your friends know your care, and give them a good laugh at the same time. Here are just a few things you can add:
Small bottle of aspirin
Chocolate bar
Sample bottle of whiskey
Sample size bottle of lotion
Small packet of bath soak
Hot coco mix
A few band-aids (for the blisters)
Scented votive candle
Bath soap
and much more...
Your guest are sure to appreciate the free-time you have allowed them to have, and amazingly you will to.
