Christmas Passes Quick as a Wink

Driving to See Christmas Light Decorations is a Timeless Part of the Holidays

Sondra C
It seems as if it were yesterday that my mom and dad took me around the neighborhood to gaze at the Christmas decorations. Some homes had only a few Christmas lights on the outside of their house. Others went all out to bring the festivities out of doors.

Time passes quickly. Most of the time it seems as if we just turn around and another Christmas is here. We wonder, in great disbelief, where have the days gone - it is another Christmas holiday- and we have to shop for presents for the kids.

Well, for me, it has been a lot of drives around the neighborhood to see all of the homes lit up. Some have an entire block filled with decorative lights and figures pertaining to Jesus on his holiday.

Many reflect on Christmas as only being a holiday that they receive and give gifts. Some do not believe in Jesus. Most get into the spirit of gift giving and many make their own original presents to give out.

It makes no difference how each of us celebrate the holiday. Makes no difference in what we believe or do not believe in. The holiday marks the end of yet another year and ushers in the New Year with its own celebrations.

Be aware that no matter what each of our beliefs are we all are human and feel pain and pleasure equally. Be kind to each other not only on the Christmas Holidays but all year round.

Peace on Earth and Good Will to all is what comes from the mouth of Santa. Good words I would say that has great meaning. Therefore, I wonder why these words are only uttered by a few and not heard by all.

Each New year we promise to lose weight. We vow that this year will be different. We promise to stick to our diets - this usually lasts about a week.

Each New Year we all promise to be kind to each other. We vow to be there for those in need. Make this year the year that this promise will extend to the people of the world who are crying for help.

Have a very Merry Christmas and a healthy and Happy New Year. Keep in mind those less fortunate than us and give from the heart

I grew up with the same traditions, and even now after our kids are grown, my wife and I still enjoy seeing the neighborhood lights.
