Falling in tints that warm and charm.
You've given way to flakes of snow,
Hushed footsteps and stories old.
Bright jingle bells are just a start
Of sounds that Christmas does impart.
Shhh---listen while the candles glow.
The scent of pine now takes its share
With cinnamon, and peppermint,
With pies and cookies dressed so well,
They mingle with apples and fill the air.
And there's sweet secrets for us to keep,
Presents to wrap, while children sleep,
Shhh---quiet now, so I can tell.
I bought this doll for little Anne,
With real hair, she stands this tall.
And that's a bright red fireman's hat
Is that for Nathan or for Jan?
Oh, it's for Nathan, Jan has this,
This sweet baby doll that gives a kiss.
Shhh---What was that?---'tis just the cat!
But most of all, the gift to bring
They say is deep within your heart.
Yes, that's how the story's told---
Not Christmas lights or bells to ring,
But in that gift, that precious kind
That brings such special joy to mind.
Shhh---It's love, and it's never sold.
