Christmas Projects You Can Make at Home

It's always fun for the kids to make their own holiday decorations, and it can be fun for you, too! Heres a couple of simple and inexpensive ideas to make your own homemade projects for the holidays!

Pringle Can Christmas Card Display

What a fun way to put to use all those pringles cans that you go through!

What you'll need:
pringles cans, red and white yarn, ribbon, hot glue, Christmas cards

Take the bottom off of the Pringles can. With the red yarn, glue an end piece on the inside of the can on the top. Then cover the can with the red yarn by pushing the yarn down through the inside of the can, back up around the outside of the can, down through the inside, and so forth. do this until you have the whole can covered on the outside with the red yarn. Cut, and glue the end piece securely to the inside of the can.

Make a ruffle out of the white lace, and glue it down around the top of the can. Then glue another ruffle around the bottom of the can. You can also make ribbon bows from the ribbon, preferably green, but its your choice! You can glue them around the ruffles already on the can, and then glue a red ribbon rose right in the center of each green one.

To display your Christmas Cards, slide the backs underneath the strings of yarn to secure in place.

Doily Potpourri Ball Christmas Ornaments

What you'll need:
potpourri ball, cut in half, small decorative doily, ribbon, string of fake pearls or beads, potpourri, glue, rubbing alcohol, paint

Use the rubbing alcohol to clean the halved potpourri ball and let dry. Paint snowflakes on the front of it by painting an X, then two lines horizontally and vertically through it. Again, let the paint dry.

Fill the ball with the potpourri while laying on its front. Use the glue to add a small line of it around the rim of the ball. Lay the doily on top, pull out the sides and press down gently. Make sure the doily is pulled taut over the ball, and centered evenly. Let the glue dry completely.

Insert the ribbon into the top of the potpourri ball, making a small hole in it if necessary. Tie off to make a hanger. Glue on the beads by en-circling them around the ball and doily. Make a bow out of another piece of ribbon, and glue on to the top of the ball to cover up the hanger hole.
