Vampires are always popular; no matter what time of year it is, fans of vampire fiction want to read about their favorite species. This holiday season, try getting into the Christmas spirit by curling up in front of the fire with a book that combines the holidays with the undead. These six books all stand alone, so you won't need to be familiar with a series in order to enjoy some Christmas reading for the vampire lover.
Although intended for kids, adults will also enjoy Attack of the Vampire Snowmen, a fun book about vampire snowmen and zombie elves. Benny Alano is the author; the illustrations are by Jennifer Geis.
The Bite Before Christmas consists of three related novellas that combine tales of undead romance with Christmas in Boston. In these spicy stories from Heidi Betts, vampires consult a matchmaker--one of their own--to help with their love lives. These steamy stories are strictly for adults.
Christmas With a Vampire is a short story anthology by Merline Lovelace, Lori Devoti, Linda Winstead Jones, Lisa Childs, and Bonnie Vanak. Read them all at once or spread them out over several sittings.
Many of author Julie Schronk's books are appropriate for younger kids, but Scrooge, the Vampire is for young adults and older. This hilarious work features characters from A Christmas Carol and pits vampire hunter Bob Cratchit against the vampire Ebenezer Scrooge.
According to A Vampire Christmas Carol, Sarah Gray's takeoff on the Dickens classic, Scrooge isn't a vampire. Instead, he's surrounded by them, and they've been following him ever since he was born.
The Vampire's Christmas is a 48-page graphic novel about Esque, a vampire who loathes Christmas with every fiber of his undead being. This is a very dark work. Joseph Michael Linsner wrote the story; he and Mike Dubisch collaborated on the artwork.
