Christmas Reindeer or Elf Doo Doo Candy

S Faloon
I like to do things to get family members and friends laughing whenever I can. One Christmas I twisted up a favorite no bake cookie recipe to make reindeer doo doo to 'bother' a couple of my brother-in-laws. It was a lot of fun to figure out what I wanted to include.

Ingredients 3 cups Quaker Oats, 3/4 cup plus 1 Tablespoon creamy peanut butter, 2 cups white sugar, 1 teaspoon vanilla, 1 stick margarine or butter and 1/2 cup milk

Additions 2 to 3 candy canes broken into small fragments and 6 green gumdrops chopped into small pieces, 1/4 cup miniature chocolate chips 1/4 to 1/2 cup peanuts and 1/2 cup chopped up raisins if desired.

Instructions In large saucepan melt margarine on low heat, add milk and sugar, stir to blend well. Bring to slow boil stirring constantly. As with any fudge type recipe it is important to get the sugar crystals dissolved before bringing contents to a boil to maintain a creamy textured candy. Boil for 30 seconds stirring constantly then remove from heat. Stir in vanilla and peanut butter until creamy. Quickly stir in the oats. Add the candy cane and gum drop pieces as soon as the oats are incorporated into the sugar and peanut butter mixture. Immediately pour mixture out on to a wax paper lined cookie sheet. Set aside to cool and harden.

Presentation When cooled thoroughly break up into different size pieces using a teaspoon. Toss in the chocolate chips, raisins and nuts if desired. Use a large spoon to divide out into individual cellophane or zippered bags. To personalize your batch of reindeer or elf doo you can write a note to your 'targets' making sure to name the title of the bag ingredients. It is a comical conversation treat and it is yummy too. This will also work well if you want to tease a hunter in your family because he missed the 'big one' and this is all there is to show for his hunting trip.

Recipe can be doubled.

I love it. My uncle missed his shot, this year--though his daughter (my cousin) got an 11-pt. I gotta try this!
