Christmas Shopping Discounts on Tech Gifts

Five Discounted Tech Gifts to Consider

K. N. Singer
Looking for tech gifts this Christmas? Discounts abound for those who know where to look. Here are a few Christmas discounts on tech gifts for you or that gadget geek in your life:

1. Refurbished iPods

A "refurbished" product is a tech gift that has been previously owned and has been cleaned up and reset for a new owner. The biggest drawback of a refurbished tech gift is that their battery life is generally not as long as when buying it new, and with some products, like iPods that have batteries that are difficult to replace anyway, this can be a hassle. However, if you can live with that possibility, a refurbished tech gift is an excellent way to find discounts this Christmas.

A refurbished iPod, in particular, can be bought directly from the Apple Store and comes with a one-year warranty. These refurbished laptops have sometimes been floor models, sometimes been samples, and sometimes have had an actual owner. So there is a good chance that this tech gift hasn't even been used that much - it's almost new, but costs about 20% less than a brand new iPod. Shop here: Apple Store

2. Refurbished Dell desktops and laptops

Christmas discounts on laptops can be found at DellOutlet, where they resell their refurbished laptops and desktops. At DellOutlet, refurbished laptops sell for up to 35% off their "new" price, and desktops are up to 40% off. You can also find Christmas discounts on Dell tech gifts such as refurbished monitors, printers, and computer accessories. Shop here: DellOutlet.com

3. Refurbished cell phones

Time for a new cell phone? Get a Blackberry or an iPhone at a discounted rate when you buy it refurbished - don't pay full price for this tech gift! BestDigitalGoods.com has a whole host of refurbished cell phones for sale, including discounts on Blackberries. Refurbished iPhones are more difficult to find; sometimes AT&T sells these refurbs online, but when we checked there were none currently available.

4. "Black Friday" Christmas discounts

If you can stand the ridiculous lines, the tension inside the store, and the general adventure and excitement that comes with day after Thanksgiving sales, Black Friday - November 28 - is a great day to find Christmas discounts on tech gifts. Tech gifts such as digital cameras, computers, printers, iPods, cell phones, and more can be found at retail giants Best Buy, Circuit City, Target, and others at their lowest price of the year. If you're the kind of person who likes to touch and feel your tech gift, actually picking up the box and reading the specs, rather than buying online, then Black Friday is your day for Christmas discounts. You can browse all the discounts from the comfort of your home before you shop at Black Friday Ads.

5. Saving the most fun for last: tech gadgets for James Bond and friends

If you're buying a tech gift for a real gadget lover, consider these interesting tech gifts this Christmas.

First, there's the wristwatch voice recorder and MP3 player. It has 2 GB memory and 180 hours of recording time. You can listen to music from your wristwatch, or you can imitate Bond and record conversations from your wrist. Buy it here: Brickhouse Security

Then you could always track your teens when they've got the car... or anything else you want to track. This GPS tracking system can be placed in your car and transmits its location every 5 - 10 seconds. Buy it here: Brickhouse Security

Brickhouse Security has lots of other neat and potentially useless but very fun tech gifts at a discounted rate... you can browse for yourself!
