Christmas Stencils and Craft Ideas

Inexpensive Decorating Ideas

Nik Minor
When it comes to inexpensive Christmas decorating, nothing beats free, printable stencils. For less than the cost of a Christmas wreath, you can transform your home using card stock, artificial snow spray, and paint. Whether you're looking for craft ideas for your kids for fun Christmas school projects or craft ideas that will dazzle your neighbors, Christmas stencils can help you get there.

Christmas Craft Ideas Using Stencils

The Internet is home to dozens of Christmas stencils, from kid-friendly to traditional.

Christmas Glass Crafts

If you've got extra picture frames lying around, use the glass to create an easy Christmas craft. Use a Christmas star stencil and some artificial snow spray to decorate the glass on a picture frame. Spray paint the frame silver or gold picture. Other glass Christmas decorating ideas for artificial snow spray include stenciling vases and mirrors.

Another idea is to transform your living room windows, kid's bedroom windows, or front or back door. Print out your favorite Christmas stencils and, using your artificial snow spray or spray paint, deck out each panel with a different stencil. Or do this to an old window or door and rest it against a wall or column on your covered porch. Find old glass windows and doors on Craigslist.com or at the Habitat for Humanity locations, such as Renovation Station.

Easy Christmas Craft Ideas

Homemade Christmas Stockings

Another craft idea is to design your own Christmas stockings. Purchase a plain stocking and design it using Christmas stencils cut out of felt.

Other ideas include making Christmas gift tags out of your stencils. Or affix your stencils to plain cards to make easy Christmas cards. Affix your stencils to paper and laminate to make Christmas place mats. Or make ornaments out of cardboard by stenciling your design onto cardboard and then painting it.
