Christmas Stocking Stuffer Gifts for a "Naughty Child"
Have You Been Naughty or Nice This Christmas Season?
I'm sure most of us have said or heard the words "If you're not good, Santa will not bring you goodies in your Christmas stocking". Here are some of the best stocking stuffer ideas I've found for "Naughty Children". They include some very interesting and unusual things. As the years go on, more and more unsavory sounding stocking stuffers can be found on the market during the Christmas season.
A couple of my favorites are the snowman and reindeer poop. For the snowman poop, all you need to do is fill a small brown bag, or decorative gift bag with large marshmallows, unless you prefer to use the mini marshmallows. It really depends on how large your snowman is. These can also be dusted with some cinnamon to make it look like the marshmallows are dirty. For reindeer poop, use either chocolate covered raisins or peanuts, you can also use peanut clusters for clumpy reindeer poop. All of these things can be bought at your local grocery or discount store. These can be purchased very reasonably in bulk and then shared among the stockings for naughty people. If you like to have them look like they've been in the snow, just add some powdered sugar to the bag and shake it up so its coated with the sugar. These are good choices for a child and they also learn about gag gifts, but might get them to think a little more about their behavior because of the more traditional Christmas stocking stuffers they could have, but may not have received.
Another off the wall (or stall) stocking stuffer idea is a "Cow Patty". These are fudge type candies that are made to resemble an actual cow pile like you would find in a field. They usually come in chocolate and are wrapped in clear wrapping so the "patty" is clearly visible. These can be found in candy shops, pharmacies, gift catalogs and specialty stores. They are usually very good quality fudge, sometimes brand name treats, and usually range in price from $3 to $10. Again, this is the type of stocking stuffer most people might think twice about the reason they received it. I guess you could say it reflects a person's or child's selfish attitude.
If you want to continue along in this "waste-type" stocking stuffer idea theme, you can give a brown sack of it using beef sticks, not the Slim Jim or jerky types, but the long, lumpy, bumpy types that can be found or ordered at a butcher shop, or made at home with a beef-stick recipe. The best realistic looking ones are made from ground beef, using spices in beef-stick or jerky packets, then hand-formed and dried in your oven or a dehydrator according to the package directions. Boys particularly get a big kick out of these sticks, though girls are not immune to the chance to gross someone out by eating them.
Folk lore says that the "nice children" will receive gifts in their stockings, while "naughty children" will only receive a lump of coal. Using this as a stocking stuffer idea for your naughty child (or adult), you can actually put a charcoal brisket or two in the stocking, the kind you would use to barbeque with. Or, there is the candy or gum version with shiny black rough-cut nuggets that you can buy in the candy section at the grocery, pharmacy or discount stores. Some are labeled "Lumps of Coal" and come in little red fabric drawstring bags. They cost anywhere from $1 to $5 dollars. I think these are good alternative stocking stuffers for a naughty recipient.
A couple other things that we had been told about for "naughty children" getting in their Christmas stockings, when I was younger, were bundles of switches and sticks with onions on them. I admit to have been a "major" snoop at Christmas time back then. I was also the oldest of six children in our family and was supposed to set an example, which I did. Often not the type of example I was expected to. There were several Christmas seasons I would lead my younger sisters and brothers about, looking throughout the house to see if we could find signs of our Christmas presents. My maternal Grandmother, who was of German and Austrian descent would tell us that if we were not good, and continued to snoop, all we would get in our stockings were sticks with onions on them. Apparently Santa knew who the ringleader was in these forays, and I was the one who got the stick and onion on one memorable Christmas. The cost for this stocking stuffer idea is minimal. You can find a stick outside, or maybe a skewer stick and then poke it into an onion. Probably for less than 50 cents.
My paternal Grandmother was Czechoslovakian, and she told stories of "bad children" that did not receive any presents for Christmas, just a bundle of switches for in their stockings. These stories always ended pretty nicely though, the children involved learned more about sharing. In Grandma's day things were much harder to come by. It was sometimes hard to find enough kindling to start a warm fire so most of the time the bundle was used for kindling and sometimes as a broom to sweep the hearth before starting the fire. This way the naughty child redeemed his or her behavior by sharing with the family. There were implied instances in which the switches were used for discipline, but never implemented that we'd heard. A gift like this would just take a little time to collect the switches and a bit of twine, yarn or even festive ribbon to tie them together with.
All in all, there are several different types of stocking stuffers ideas for the "Naughty Ones" at Christmas. The ones I have mentioned here are good for children and adults, are not very expensive and can be found locally almost everywhere. So whether you want a gag-gift stocking stuffer, or something that makes a selfish child (or adult) have second thoughts, several of these gifts can be appropriate. Keep in mind the idea is not to degrade the person, but maybe to gently remind them that Christmas is the season of giving to others, and sharing and caring. Have a Blessed, Joyous Christmas!
