Christmas Tree Farms in Central Georgia - With Christmas Just around the corner, well okay, maybe not the next corner, but certainly around the block , is anyone else thinking about Christmas trees? As new empty nesters, In rural Hogansville, Georgia , my husband and I will be making the traditional Pick a tree trip solo this year for the first time. In the past when the children were younger we would try to find Christmas tree farms that were an adventure. This year I think we may look for a quiet simple tree farm. These three top choices I have personally called and confirmed but I always highly recommend to everyone call before setting out . Many of our tree farms are small family operations , and the sadness of a sickness in the family or even the joy of a new birth have been known to halt operations temporarily.

After calling to confirm with The owners, Russ and Donna Jordan, I am happy to make "Wee Three Trees" My first choice for families with young children. Aside from a wonderful selection of Leylands, white and Virginia pines that are priced at $5.00 a foot there are also individually priced Fraser firs available to choose from. Pre cut or cut your own.

On Saturdays and Sundays, while you're looking for the perfect tree, enjoy a family hay ride together, and sip some free cider . Can you say photo opportunity? There are Pony rides too for the kids!

After calling to confirm, my second choice in the search for that perfect tree, is Dillihunty Farms Located in Concord , Ga. Mr. Calloway says the trees are priced this year from $4.50 to $5.00 a foot. A selection of untrimmed Murray and Leyland Cypress, in their beautiful natural state. Located on GA Hwy 18, 1 Mile east of Concord on south side of highway. Turn into Oxford Circle for parking at the sales location. Phone 770-884-0022

Thanksgiving day- 2 to 5:30 pm
Friday and Saturday after Thanksgiving - 10 am to 5:30 pm
Sunday's, 1 to 5:30 pm
School days 4 to 6 pm

Last , but not least In my Selections for Christmas Tree Hunting in Middle Ga. is Spring Brook Trees. A simple Tree farm specializing in growing beautiful trees. you can Choose and Cut your own Leyland Cypress Christmas Tree or choose from a variety of fresh cut Fraser Firs. Leyland Cypress Prices start at $5.00 a ft. and the Fraser Firs are individually priced.

Also Honorable mention goes to Liberty Hill Tree Farm in nearby LaGrange Georgia. The Owner Mr. Rob Petry has confirmed that he will be open for this Christmas Season. Liberty is a well established Tree farm in business for many years now. My family did have a pleasurable time and we got a beautiful tree the year we went there. They also do hayrides for the family here . At the time of printing Mr. Petry did not have his schedule of events and hours completed for the 2008 season but is looking forward to seeing some old familiar faces as well as new customers this year.
