Christmas Tree Recycling 2009 - Charleston, SC

Stacy Zeiger
There's nothing better than the pine scent of a live Christmas tree filling the house during the holiday season, but once the holidays are over and the tree dies, something has to be done with it. An environmentally-friendly option is recycling.

This year, officials in Charleston, SC are encouraging Christmas tree recycling. Here is where you can recycle your tree in the area.

Bee's Ferry Landfill
1344 Bee's Ferry Rd.
West Ashley, SC
If you can't make it to the landfill, you can leave your tree on the curb for pickup.

Charleston County Recycling Center
13 Romney St.
Charleston, SC

Miles Jamison Rd. Landfill
130 Suburban Lane
Summerville, SC

Sandy Pines Landfill
Sandy Pines Lane
Dorchester, SC

You can also consider grinding your tree yourself and using it as mulch or calling a local non-profit agency, such as a Boy Scout troop who may pick up your tree for recycling for a small donation.
