Christmas Tree Recycling in Northern Colorado

Turning Memories into Mulch

Chris Matier
Every year, after the Christmas season passes, Northern Colorado looks like a bizarre crime scene. There are trees abandoned on the side of the road like bodies dropped off by elven mobsters. Unfortunately, ditching your Christmas tree in a dumpster or on the side of the road is neither efficient or environmentally sound. Northern Colorado, like many communities across the country, offers free or low cost alternatives to ditching your Christmas Tree.

Many community alternatives for Christmas Tree disposal include the recycling of trees into mulch for the community. In reality, Christmas Tree recycling win-win for everyone. It is so simple to drive up and drop a tree off, it doesn't cost anything, and the city gets tons of free mulch for their gardening and landscaping properties. In Northern Colorado, Greeley, Loveland, and Fort Collins all have a free Christmas Tree Recycling Program.
