Christmas Tree Scent Ideas

If you love the smell of a real Christmas tree but aren't able to get one this year, there are still things you can do in order to enjoy the natural scents of the holidays. Whether you prefer pine, spruce, or evergreen scents, there are some tips you can use to recreate the scent of your choice:

#1: Use a scented oil You can find scented oils at Bath & Body Works, Wal-Mart, Target, local candle shops, and other stores that recreate the scent of a real Christmas tree. They cost less than $10, and will quickly fill the room. The oils burn quickly and are scented strongly, so test it out first before you leave the room.

#2: Buy a scented spray There are scented sprays available that you can purchase that will help you feel like your artificial tree is real! Use just a small amount, however, because these sprays can be quite strong. Febreeze and Glade make popular scents, and rarely cost more than $3. In fact, you can likely find coupons online and in your Sunday newspaper that will save you $1 or more per purchase.

#3: Purchase candles, tarts, or potpourri Places like Yankee Candle, Wal-Mart, Target, and other stores have seasonal scents available during the holiday season. The scents of pine, evergreen, and spruce will fill the room in under an hour, and will help your home feel more festive. Potpourri also helps serve as an additional decoration around your home, and can be used in main entertaining areas, bedrooms, and bathrooms.

#4: Use tree clippings You can purchase tree clippings from a Christmas tree lot, or use some you find on your property. You can put small clippings in vases, and they will not only help the room smell like a real Christmas tree, they will also provide you with additional decorations for the holidays. If you can find pine cones, they will provide a light scent as well. You can also use the pine cones as decorations on your kitchen table or fireplace, and they will add a festive touch to your home.

While it's not always possible to have a real Christmas tree due to rising costs, indoor pets, living locations, allergies, etc., I hope you see that there are many options available to recreate the scents you would like. Be creative, and your entire home can smell as if you've got a fresh-cut tree!
