Christmas Without Children

Split Family Christmas

wendy martin
As a child, I'd sit and wonder,

pretty much like any child does,

what christmas would bring along,

happily, it always brought much love.

No matter how well off or poor,

as long as my family were there,

christmas spirit came through the door,

just to know that they really cared.

In the unity of a family,

a tiny heart will grow,

to feel loved, cherished and wanted,

is all you need to know.

So, with great pain and anxiety,

I see my children torn apart,

by the curse of a modern society,

that has broken their growing hearts.

No longer a sheltered childhood,

no longer a family as one,

the christmas spirit, misunderstood,

as all their hopes become undone.

So with sadness, I approach each christmas,

no longer contentment in my heart,

regrets for my sweet, sweet children,

forever, their christmas will be torn apart.

So, I hope for each split family,

to do what's right for their children in need,

to love them and cherish them so dearly,

so, they need never, ever grieve,

For your love.
