Decorating your yard with ornaments this Holiday Season doesn't have to be expensive or even difficult. Let's face it, the more money we can save means the more we can spend on gifts for loved ones right? Or the more money we can save, the better. That's why these do-it-yourself yard ornaments can be done by using a few items that you already have laying around your home. Saving you time and money and brings you a few craft ideas that you can do with your whole family.

Tin Can Lantern
Empty Tin Cans
Tealight or Votives
Hammer
Nail
Spray Pain (optional)

Save your empty tin cans, from canned good foods like vegetables. With these you can paint them (optional) Holiday colors, then punch a star or snowflake pattern into the side of each can. Even Santa's face or Frosty. This can be done with a hammer and nail, and doesn't take much effort. And on the inside you'll want to put a tealight or votive candle, this way it lights up the pattern. For safety, add sand to the bottom of the can, this will prevent the can from falling over when the wind blows, and will also allow the flame to be put out when it reaches bottom. These can be placed outside as yard ornaments or lining your walkway/driveway.

Pine Cone Ornaments
Pine Cones
Paint and Glitter (optional)
Wire or String
Super Glue

These ornaments can be placed on an existing outside decoration or from your tree or porch. Not only do these make adorable ornaments, but they are also easy and fun for children to help with. First, gather up the pine cones, as many as you want. Then paint, glitter, or decorate them however you wish. Tie the string or wire around the middle of the pine cone, and secure with a small amount of clear super glue.

Mailbox Gift

Ribbon
Scissors
Tape
Bow
Wrapping Paper

With leftover wrapping paper, you can wrap your mailbox up just like a present. Making sure the flap and flag will still move. Tape the wrapping paper around the mailbox and cut where needed. You can also wrap a ribbon around the pole staring from the top to bottom. And even add a bow, which you can do by taping, or tying one yourself around the box.

Yard Presents

Empty Boxes
Tape
Scissors
Wrapping Paper
Bow
Ribbon

If you have any extra boxes, these will make great yard decorations. Just wrap them up in any left over wrapping paper and then place them outside your house. They can line your house, or be placed in a pile, even under your trees. Things to remember, you may have to stake these to the ground so they don't blow away or be taken off by animals. To do this you just need to get a stake, or pipe, to stick through the bottom of the box and then straight in the ground.

Candy Canes

Pool Noodle (red or white)
Ribbon (red or white)
String
Straight Pins

First you will want to bend the noodle into a candy cane shape, secure it with the string going from the tip and straight across to the body. This will allow it to keep it's shape. With the ribbon, pin the end of it to the tip of the noodle and wind it around the entire body tightly. Secure it with pins as needed to keep the ribbon from sliding. You can either fasten this to a tree, mailbox, or anything else or you could even put a stake through the hole on the bottom and have it standing straight up in your yard.

Pine Cone Wind-Chimes
Pine Cones
Paint
String or Wire
Bells
Super Glue

Another pine cone idea, this is great for hanging on your trees outside. You can listen to chimes of the bells as the wind blows. Just paint and decorate your pine cones however you would like to. Tie the string or wire around them in the middle, where the pine cones are at the top. Then tie some more string, have these hanging down from the pine cones, and attach the bells, making sure they are all at the same length.
