Chronic Fatigue Syndrome Can Be Aided with Natural Treatments
Researchers State Therapies like Exercise and Cognitive Behavior Do Aide for CFS
According to researchers both cognitive behavior and exercise therapy provides major hope for patients battling this condition. Among it's symptoms muscle and joint aches without swelling, mood changes, headaches and severe fatigue which most of the times happens after you had the flu.
The study also support that mental attitude and physical behavior can provide a positive result for this condition.
Conventional treatments usually consist of providing patients with information on this disease, advice on how to manage symptoms and even medications consisting of pain relievers and anti-anxiety medications.
In order to determine what therapies or combination of therapies might work best, 641 participants from four different rehabilitation centers in Britain took part. They were divided into four groups. Over a one year span, all participants did receive standard treatment and three of the groups had additional treatment consisting either of pacing therapy, cognitive or exercise therapy.
Researchers had discovered the most remarked improvements had been in those that received standard therapy and had either exercise or cognitive behavior therapy.
Since CFS is still not understood it is very hard for patients to find a practitioner who understands the disease. Therefore, many people with this condition rely on their own research. There are no standard treatments for CFS. Many practitioners usually will prescribe low dose medications for depression, inflammatory and even anti-viral.
Many people with CFS do not wish to take medications for long periods of time and therefore seek out alternative treatments that are natural and could hopefully provide them relief. Here are a few noted treatments.
Chiropractic
Since there are no actual tests for CFS, the chiropractic will take a medical history, x-rays and sometimes even blood tests which you will be sent for in order to eliminate any other underlying or contributing conditions.
No matter what treatment is used it can be slow and frustrating but the results are worth the time and effort.
Chiropractic adjustments and additional therapies have been noted in some studies to effectively improve CFS symptoms. Joint manipulations, stretching, nutrition and diet counseling and other treatments may be used.
Acupuncture
Some people have found relief from CFS symptoms with acupuncture treatments. For best results weekly treatments for two or three months seem to show the most improvements in this disease. Cupping by an acupuncturist and Chinese herbs also have been noted to aide improvement in symptoms.
Massage
Therapeutic massage can decrease stress and improve circulation. It too can help aide in reduction of CF symptoms and may be able to provide you with more energy and better sleep patterns. Sources:
