Chrysler Launches $2.99 Per Gallon Incentive Program

May 7, 2008, proved to be a day that would offer some new car buyers some type of relief. The Chrysler Corporation announced its incentive program which offers up discount gas for $2.99 per gallon no matter how much prices sky rocket.

Just like with all things, there are stipulations on the ability to get in on this deal. First off you must purchase a participating vehicle from the company between now and June 2, 2008, at a dealer near you. Getting yourself a new Chrysler, Dodge, or Jeep vehicle will allow you to get a "Let's Refuel America" card to use at a gas station for the type of fuels your vehicle uses only. The program works like this, once you buy the vehicle, you must register a credit card with their program.

The buyer can then use the new gas card they will get in return to fill their new car or truck up at any of the participating stations available. Each time that the fuel card is used, the owner's registered credit card is charged $2.99 a gallon for either regular, E85, or diesel fuel. Chrysler has pledged to pay the difference between the guaranteed price and current or future gas prices. The highlight of this deal is not only the price, but the length of the amazing guarantee which is for three years.

Those who are sold on the idea may be wondering exactly what kind of vehicles they can get to take advantage of this deal. Buyers can pick a vast range of Chrysler, Dodge, and Jeep vehicles that are 2008 or 2009 models. If you opt to buy a diesel truck, for example, you are required to buy diesel fuel. Gas vehicles or cars using flex fuel may only use gas or E85. Buying the opposite will result in $2 transaction fees plus the regular fuel price. The annual fueling allotments set limits based on 12,000 yearly miles and the EPA sticker mileage. Anyone may use their discount card to refuel any car within the three year range, even if the initial vehicle is sold so that they may fuel up their other vehicle.

SRT models, Vipers, Crossfires, and Sprinters are excluded from this new fuel guarantee. In the event that fuel prices drop below $2.99, customers can either use another credit card or just use cash to lower their costs. In the meantime, this will provide some relief to those who may just want or need a newer vehicle, making this a great deal. With an assortment of newly improved Convertibles, Mini Vans, and SUVs under their wing, how could one resist taking up on such a deal? Families on a budget may want to consider this option, as adding a newer, more fuel efficient car for family use with the added bonus of a low priced gas card would probably save a bundle, especially if their household has teen or college aged drivers. If you've been thinking about selling your older model cars and downsizing to just one or two vehicles, this gives you yet another option.

Many market researchers are already predicting that this major move could bankrupt Chrysler who says it is taking preventative measures to ensure their success and footing in the industry. This is the company's way of bringing new life into yet another falling area of consumer spending, the purchase of new vehicles. With the introduction of $2,500 cars from foreign makers and strictly electric cars, drastic measures are being taken by American auto manufacturers. Hopefully, more companies will follow in Chrysler's footsteps to give some savings to the public, since the government doesn't seem to be concerned much nor is it doing anything to show empathy for the fact that people are going broke just to try to get to work these days.
