Chuck Rosenthal Backs Out of Republican Race for D.A. Position in Harris County, Texas
Scandalous Romantic E-mails, Racist Jokes and Pornographic Images Were Discovered
Apparently emails on Rosenthal's office computer disclosed that he was making racist statements, running his election from his office computer, and several pornographic images were also found. He was also sending romantic emails to his executive secretary. He has also been quoted as referring to former President Clinton as a black man in a racist way, "He played the sax...," "He smoked weed," and "He had his way with ugly white women," in an email to his friend Dr. Sam Seigler, husband of assistant DA Kelly Seigler who will now replace Rosenthal in The race for DA according to 11 News Defenders. http://www.khou.com/topstories/stories/khou080108_tj_rosenthalfolo.284ff48.html Several other distasteful emails were sent between Dr. Siegler and Rosenthal.
The scandal began when 2 brothers, Erick Adam and Sean Carlos Ibarra filed a suit against Harris County in 2002, because sheriffs deputies stormed their home when they found out the two brothers had been photographing Harris County Sheriff's deputies raiding a neighbors house for drugs according to The Houston Chronicle.

With Kelly Seigler now running for DA in Harris County, the spotlight has been somewhat focused to her. Married to Dr. Sam Seigler, friend and recipient and sender of some very distasteful emails. His job is to save life's, while hers has been to end lives. She has been an over eager defender to get death sentence convictions, and is sometimes compared to Nancy Grace, famous Court TV reporter. Seigler is known as "The Giant Killer" and handles mostly big cases. She has a record of 12 out of 13 death row convictions. According to The Houston Chronicle, Kelly Seigler said "Members of Houston's Lakewood Church are "screwballs and nuts" and that she works to keep them off of juries. This came about when Seigler struck a black man from a jury, but claimed she did not strike him because of his race, but because he was a member of that church reports The Houston Chronicle. http://www.chron.com/disp/story.mpl/front/5445758.html
Other reasons she struck that man from the jury was because he was a member of the NAACP, which is a group that among other things, opposes the death penalty.
Several death row inmates at The Polunsky Unit have alleged that they were the victims of false jailhouse snitch testimony, that landed them on death row. The inmates all allege that Seigler set them up with jail house snitches, whose false testimony won her their convictions. They claim they are innocent and allege they have documents to prove so.

Informers are usually awarded a reduction in their sentence, and or money to testify for prosecutors, and this makes their testimony hardly credible.
Since the publication of this article other inmates have come forward to say Seigler also used jailhouse snitch testimony to win a conviction in their case. Robert Fratta a death row inmate in Texas was one of them. Another Texas death row inmate, Charles Thompson claims he was snitched on by an informant who was a paid snitch for over 10 years.
A family member of David Temple, who was recently convicted and sentenced to life for the murder of his wife and unborn child claims David's innocence and alleges Seigler and the prosecution painted a picture in the eyes of the jury that family members lied and were accomplices of Temple.

Just months after the scandal with Texas Judge Sharon Keller, things aren't looking to good for Texas officials. Keller was the subject of scandal when Michael Richard, an inmate at the Polunsky Unit in Texas was due for execution at 6:00 PM. on September 25, 2007. Keller was working that day but allegedly refused to remain open an extra twenty minuets to see if Richards was to get a stay of execution or not. She was quoted as saying "We close at five".
Abolitionists of the death sentence as well as concerned citizens and other Texas officials called for her resignation. Keller's closing early has called for her resigning, it's not acceptable, when a man's life is at stake.
On the day of an execution, Keller's office should have to stay open as long as it takes. Her response, "We close at five" is incredible and irrespsonsible.
