Chupacabra and Baby Alien from Mexico Carcasses Making Headlines

Aida Ekberg
The carcass of a creature found in Texas has been dubbed by many as the body of a very popular cryptid, the Chupacabra. But cryptozoology fans like myself are probably pretty skeptical of the finding based on the pictures of the alleged Chupacabra; it looks more like the dead carcass of a hairless coyote (perhaps one that was suffering from some sort of skin disease). However, if you're looking for mysterious cryptids hailing from Mexico (one of the most popular places for alleged Chupacabra sightings), perhaps you would be interested in the story of the "baby alien" of Mexico. Of course it's unknown if the creature I'm about to describe is a "baby alien" at all or simply some sort of undiscovered species, but it has fascinated me more than any other cryptid.

I first heard of the baby alien of Mexico on an episode of the History Channel's MonsterQuest. It was featured on the episode of MonsterQuest called 'Terror From the Sky', which delved into the fascinating world of flying humanoids. These flying humanoids were described as strange, human-shaped figures that have been spotted floating in the skies over Mexico. The flying humanoids were found to possibly be nothing more than bunches of flying balloons in some instances, and while I was fascinated with that portion of the show, it was the end that really grabbed my attention, which focused on a creature I'm simply referring to as a "baby alien" for lack of anything else to call it.

I'm very surprised the baby alien of Mexico wasn't featured on the MonsterQuest episode focused on the Chupacabra, since that's what I first thought of when I saw a picture of the terrifying creature. The picture shown on MonsterQuest of the creature when it was allegedly still alive (which you can see here) terrified me far more than any of the footage of the flying humanoids. I know many describe the Chupacabra as a dog-like creature, but I've also heard of it described in a humanoid/reptilian form like that of the baby alien, and since it didn't seem to have any way to become airborne on its own, it just didn't seem to fit into the MonsterQuest episode about flying humanoids. But now for the story of the baby alien of Mexico.

The baby alien was found by a Mexican rancher in a steel trap, still alive. Apparently the rancher and the other men with him kept the creature alive for a while, snapping a few pictures of it. Then, for some inexplicable reason, they decided to drown it, soon realizing that the creature was at least semi-aquatic, as it took a very long time to kill it in this manner. The mummified body of the creature was preserved (you can see a video of it here), and it has since been tested by many experts, including one on MonsterQuest who said that there was no match found for the baby alien's DNA. Other tests have yielded the same result.

Before the mummified body was tested, there were allegations that the creature could have been a skinned monkey or some kind of an elaborate hoax, and if the photo and video aren't enough to freak you out, perhaps this little tidbit will do the trick: the man who found the baby alien (which is probably actually an adult) was found by the side of the road in his car burned to death, and the fire that killed him was supposedly of a far higher temperature than that of an average car wreck. It's also to be noted that, judging from the shape of the skull, the creature had a very sophisticated brain and was probably very intelligent.

I have no idea what this baby alien could actually be, but I'm surprised the tale of this cryptid hasn't become the media sensation that the alleged Chupacabra body has. I'm sure the mummified body will continue to be tested, and perhaps one day this mystery will be solved. But until then, cryptozoology fans will continue to marvel at what is surely one of the most amazing discoveries in the often-ridiculed field.
