As children we went to church proud of ourselves.
With a smile on my and my sister's face.
Mom sewed our dresses of blue.
We had white Easter bonnets and black patten shoes.
Our older brother had a new brown suit.
We sung on stage as the Pastor played,
his black and white, Accordion.
We learned about Jesus.
The old wooden white, windows were raised to the top.
Heat filled the room, as fans were use with a flick of the wrist.
My black patten shoes made a loud noise on the back of the pew,
as the pastor prayed.
One day as I was praying, as a child, it seemed so real.
I knew Jesus was there. His peace was so real.

Post a CommentThank you. I am glad that you are able to enjoy my writings. Some people think that I should throw them away but, I think that people everywhere can be touched by my writings.
I am very happy to find so many Christians on AC. It is a real blessing for me as I read some of the things they have written. So many things come back to me about my childhood as I read these writings.
Yes! Your right. I wrote a poem about being in school and guns being hidden. The title of it is Fear. I will put it on for others to read, if it is not already on the site.
Thanks,

I find it interesting that we as a whole can remember going to church the sound and the thing we did. but when someone ask what did you learn we all say not to talk as loud as the pastor or father would get us.
I think we all long for those simpler days when thing where just right or wrong, you never when to school with a gun and you knew you could pray just before that test and no one would think any thing of it and it would help.
