Church Fundraising Ideas

Jim Posey
Church fundraisers are simple and easy to plan but the results that come back are often spectacular and overwhelming Churches can always find a use for extra money. Most people will have no problems with donating to a church which has been shown by the weekly offering of tithes that people gladly donate in order to experience the religious experience. However sometimes the church is strapped for cash and needs some extra money to get by. In times like these a fundraiser is a viable option to raise some much needed capital.

Fundraiser Themes

To have a simple fundraiser have all the church goers donate some novelty item and sell them like a garage sale. Church goers can donate their novelty items, baked goods, shoes, or even jewelry. When having these big events with food and tons of happy people enjoying each others company it can be easy for people around the neighborhood to become interested in what is going on at the church around the block. If the pastor is readily equipped evangelizing can occur and your church can get even bigger!

Event fund raisers

Event fundraising will require more detailed planning and forethought. A lot of the time, the congregation will band together and join into a larger fraction of willful volunteers. Most of these people can't afford to make any monetary donations so they will instead donate their time which can be better appreciated. Show them your appreciation for volunteering by telling them that their contribution is more important than money and provide a free lunch or dinner for them. The planned event can be as formal or as informal as you would like but always take into account the congregation of your church. Is your congregation seriously going to attend a suit and tie affair or would they rather go to a potluck or barbecue. It might be better to have a praise and worship Sunday night fellowship. If the event is widely publicized the payoff can be sweet ranging from a couple of hundred to several thousands of dollars.

There are many fundraising companies out there that will be able to drum up excitement for your cause. These companies require a lot of investment and will take the load off your back. The point of fundraising is that it helps your church bind together to form a more cohesive unit. I would recommend not using one of these companies and instead binding together to make a group contribution for your church.
