Reuters is reporting that the CIA will be releasing a large amount of information about their activities from the 1950s to the 1970s. There are many people that are going to be very surprised when they read what techniques the CIA used in the past to protect our freedoms.

These documents represent what are being called the, "Family Jewels," of the CIA. CIA Director Michael Hayden has explained that these documents will detail many of the questionable techniques that the CIA has used in the past.

According to the National Security Archive in George Washington University, these documents will detail overseas assassination attempts. There are many other countries that will be very eager to see if one of their former leaders will be listed in these documents.

There will also be detailed accounts of kidnappings from both overseas and domestic. There will be explanations of how the CIA infiltrated many organizations in the United States, and abroad. There will also be accounts of domestic spying that these documents will reveal.

Another large portion of these documents will explain the actions that the CIA took in trying to understand and eradicate the Communist threats in both the Soviet Union and China. This will most likely upset some of the nationals that are still resident in these foreign lands.

There are many people that follow the history of the CIA that will be excited to finally read more documents that were kept classified during the Church Committee's investigation into CIA Project MKUltra. The goal of Project MKUltra was to figure out ways to control people through different types of mind control.

In the 1970s, many people that followed the story were outraged when they found out that the CIA was using LSD and other narcotics on helpless American citizens in an attempt to learn more about the human mind. There are many people that have had long-term damaging effects from these experiments.

There are other things that were also found out by the Church Committee at this time. Congress deemed many of the actions of the CIA as illegal. The CIA was forced to go through a major overhaul at that time.

There will be 174 documents that are made up of around 11,000 pages that will be released next week on the website of the CIA. These documents will fall between the years of 1953 and 1973. They are bound to make their way around the Internet in a very short amount of time.
