This is a scary prospect, but I have a couple questions for Hayden and other top officials:
1. If we do have a nuclear attack what makes you think you will survive to collect the insurance?
2. Do you really think there will be an insurance company to collect from? If we were involved in a nuclear attack it would, without a doubt, wreak major havoc on our economy. Insurance companies would be hard hit, just look at their attempts not to pay hurricane victims in New Orleans. You could also look at the effects September 11th has had on the insurance industry.
3. It is a little scary that your main concern seems to be for your material belongings. What about the rest of the US?
4. At $100,000 a month it would not take long to pay for a property, even a pricey one. What insider information would you like to share with the rest of the world?
5. Do you think a nuclear attack is so likely, you are willing to purchase insurance to protect yourself and your property? How do you recommend the rest of us should react to this news?
According to the article at least 35 top ranking government officials have purchased similar policies. What does that mean for the rest of us? Should we be asking why? What is the reason behind it? What do they know that the rest of the world should know? Check out the article and post your feelings below. What is your take on top government officials buying nuclear fallout insurance?
I am normally a person who does not get excited about many things. This article concerns me. Do government officials really think they can suddenly purchase nuclear fallout insurance and the rest of the world will not notice? How are Americans going to react to this news? Will we go on about our daily lives, or will there be a panicked reaction? I will be watching this story very closely over the next few days. Maybe our government officials have run out of other things to spend their money on, and this is the latest trend? "The Smith's purchased nuclear fallout insurance, lets go buy some for ourselves, maybe they know something we don't know?"

Post a CommentYeap, The Onion is a COMPLETELY false paper... It is made up, all of it, for the sake of humor with an emphasis on irony...
My take on top officials buying nuclear fallout insurance is that writers need to learn how to be JOURNALISTS.
How funny; You made my day! You do realize the Onion is completely made up, right? Does anyone bother to check sources anymore? You should also see the Onion's article "Bush Acknowledges Existence Of Carbon Dioxide."
I think it's a very scary prospect -- actually I recall thinking of what could happen when I was living in Colorado Springs with a view of Cheyenne mountain not far from my living room window. Now I live in Wisconsin and not far from Canada. Personally, if it happens no amount of insurance will be of any value to those holding policies what with contamination, an economy that is suddenly defunct, etc. But hey, those who are rich always think they can be an exception.
Crazy indeed! Hey, you never know anymore! LOL
