The tradition created by the CIAA (The Central Intercollegiate Athletic Association) is one that began in 1912. Described as the "nation's oldest black athletic conference," The CIAA, is celebrating ninety-six years of showcasing the best athletes from Historically Black Colleges. During CIAA, Bowie State University, Chowan University, Elizabeth City State University, Fayetteville State University, Johnson C. Smith University, Livingstone College, St. Augustine's College, St. Paul's College, Shaw University, Virginia State University and Virginia Union University are all at the center of a 5 day exhibition event boasting tournaments, parties, food and fashion galore.

As the Queen City (nickname for Charlotte) gears up to host the thousands of visitors convening for this year's CIAA events, there seems to be no shortage of activities. The CIAA basketball tournament events this year, run from Feb. 23-27. While NCAA Division II conference teams battle to rule the court, attendees gear up to enjoy a series of events sponsored by major brands like Lowe's, Ford Fan Experience, Bank of America and more.

Notable celebrities and entertainment during CIAA event week include:

Steve Harvey & Yolanda Adams who will make return appearances, broadcasting their respective shows live from the CIAA.

The 2010 CIAA Step Show Throwdown and High School Stepoff will be hosted by Terrence J from 106 & Park as Fraternities and Sororities battle it out for the title, glory, bragging rights and cash to rule as the best steppers the nation has to offer.

The Starpower Week-end Party is hosted by Doug E Fresh with Four DJs including: DJ Trauma, Doug E Fresh, Biz Markie and Boney B.
